I got this grownup hot dog recipe from a girl I attend church with. They were always gone in no time at family functions. You need to let them sit for a day or two to take on the flavor, and inexpensive hot dogs are key here.... they make a better product!

Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 20 servings

  • 1 cup ketchup

  • 1 cup bourbon

  • 1 cup brown sugar

  • 2 (16 ounce) packages hot dogs, sliced into bite-sized pieces

Directions

  1. Combine ketchup, bourbon, and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook and stir until sugar dissolves, 2 to 3 minutes. Add hot dogs. Cover and simmer for 1 hour.

  2. Let cool completely before refrigerating for 24 to 48 hours.

  3. Reheat hot dogs by simmering in a pan over medium heat, about 5 minutes. Serve warm with toothpicks.
