Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 12 servings

  • ½ cup white sugar

  • ½ cup milk

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • 1 egg

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • 2 cups fresh cranberries, chopped

Topping:

  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour

  • ½ cup white sugar

  • 3 tablespoons butter, softened

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease an 8-inch square cake pan.

  2. Stir together sugar, milk, vegetable oil, and egg in a large bowl until well blended. Add flour, baking powder, and salt; stir until incorporated. Pour into the prepared pan and sprinkle cranberries over the top.

  3. Make topping: Combine flour, sugar, and butter in a medium bowl; mix until crumbly. Sprinkle over cranberries in the pan.

  4. Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 25 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly. Serve warm.
