Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 12 servings

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tablespoon white sugar

  • 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ½ cup chilled butter, diced

  • 1 ¼ cups whole milk

Directions

  1. Gather the ingredients. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). Lightly grease a baking sheet.

  2. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together in a large bowl. Cut in cold butter with a knife or pastry blender until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  3. Stir in milk, a little at a time, until dough is moistened.

  4. Drop dough by heaping spoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheet.

  5. Bake in the preheated oven until golden, 12 to 15 minutes.
