Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 2 sweet onions, cut into rings

  • 1 head cabbage, shredded

  • ½ (12 ounce) package medium egg noodles

  • 1 (16 ounce) package kielbasa sausage, cubed

  • 2 (12.8 ounce) boxes frozen mini pierogis

  • salt and ground black pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Melt butter in a large, nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add onion; cook until very tender, about 10 minutes. Stir in as much cabbage as fits in skillet; cook until cabbage is very tender, about 15 minutes. Stir in remaining cabbage as mixture cooks down.

  2. Meanwhile, fill a large pot with lightly salted water and bring to a rapid boil. Cook egg noodles at a boil until tender yet firm to the bite, about 5 minutes. Drain well in a colander set in the sink.

  3. Stir kielbasa into cabbage mixture; cook until warm, 3 to 5 minutes. Fold in egg noodles, then gently fold in pierogis. Cover skillet; cook until pierogis are hot in the center, about 10 minutes more. Season with salt and black pepper.
