Chocolate Fondue Ingredients

These are the ingredients you’ll need to make this chocolate fondue recipe:

  • Milk chocolate: It’s best to grate the chocolate from a block or a bar instead of using chocolate chips, as grated chocolate will melt more easily.
  • Heavy cream: Melting the chocolate with heavy cream ensures a perfectly velvety texture.
  • Water: You’ll need ⅓ cup hot water.
  • Coffee powder: Take the flavor up a notch with a tablespoon of instant coffee powder.
  • Vanilla: Vanilla extract enhances the overall flavor.
  • Sugar: Sweeten things up with a teaspoon of white sugar.

How to Make Chocolate Fondue

Melt the chocolate with the heavy cream on the stove, then mix in the remaining ingredients and continue cooking (stirring frequently) until the chocolate fondue is smooth. That’s it! Find the full, step-by-step recipe below for detailed instructions.

What to Dip In Chocolate Fondue

While the chocolate fondue is definitely the star of the show, it needs its supporting players! Here are some delicious ideas for dippers:

  • Fresh fruit (such as strawberries, banana slices, raspberries, cherries, apple slices, and orange segments)
  • Dried fruit (such as dates, dried banana slices, and dried mango.
  • Cookies (such as biscotti, shortbread, or Oreos)
  • Mini doughnuts
  • Rice Krispies Treats
  • Nuts
  • Popcorn
  • Pretzels
  • Brownies

Can You Make Chocolate Fondue Ahead of Time?

You can make the chocolate fondue one day in advance to save time. Store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator, then reheat gently in a double boiler just before serving.
