Original recipe (1X) yields 24 servings ½ cup melted butter ⅓ cup white sugar 1 ½ cups crushed vanilla wafers 1 cup chopped pecans 1 cup butter, softened 2 cups white sugar 4 eggs 1 cup milk 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 2 ⅔ cups all-purpose flour 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon salt Directions Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease two 8x4 inch bread pans. Prepare the topping by combining the 1/2 cup butter, 1/3 cup sugar, vanilla wafers and pecans. Mix together well and press into the bottom of prepared pans. Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs one at a time and beat well. Combine milk and vanilla. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt. Add to batter, alternating with milk; beat well.
