Sheppard was born in Warminster, Wiltshire, England, in 1957. At the age of 19 he emerged as a musician in the Salisbury-based contemporary quartet Sphere in the late 1970s, gigging only three weeks after picking up the saxophone. He honed his skills in the wine bars and jazz clubs of the UK and Europe in the early 1980s. He also played with world music groups and with more established improvisers such as Keith Tippett. While still with Sphere, Sheppard moved to Paris, working with French bands Lumière and Urban Sax.
Andy Sheppard (born 1972 Simcoe, Ontario, Canada) is a Canadian broadcaster and musician. He was the host of the defunct CBC Radio 2's nightly jazz program After Hours and currently produces and is a regular guest host of the contemporary music program The Signal for CBC Radio 2.
A graduate of McGill University's music program, Sheppard is also a guitarist, composer, experimental artist, and songwriter. His song "Until Next Time" was named the winner of the 2006 Colleen Peterson Songwriting Award. His song "And The Bells They Rang" was featured in the viral video Shit Girls Say and his piece "The Things You Want (and The Things You Need)" was featured in a promotional film for the Tony Hawk Ride Channel.
Sugar Beach is an urban beachpark in Toronto, Canada, that opened in 2010. It is located across from Redpath Sugar Refinery in Toronto's eastern East Bayfront. Like HTO Park to the west, the beach is not meant to allow wading or swimming in Lake Ontario, but rather functions as a waterfront public space for relaxation, leisure, and social activities. It cost $14 million.
The park is designed by Claude Cormier + Associés Inc. It features a sandy beach with ornamental lighting, umbrellas, Muskoka chairs, rocky amphitheatre and candy trim, and pedestrian areas paved with granite setts in three colours arranged in a stylized maple leaf motif.
Since 2011, the beach has been the setting for the Toronto Port Authority's Sail-In Cinema event, with an inflatable movie screen mounted on a custom-built barge approximately 50 metres south of the beach.
History
The park is triangular-shaped and built next to Redpath Sugar's refinery at Lower Jarvis Street and Queens Quay—the park's name references the nearby sugar refinery. It shares space with the new home of Corus Entertainment on Corus Quay (formerly Jarvis Street Slip). The building and beach are separated by a paved area with benches and trees in Silva Cells that provide over 30 cubic meters of uncompacted soil to each tree. Corus Quay has large retractable doors that allow the building to host concerts and events at Sugar Beach. Prior to construction, the entire site was a parking lot for the Jarvis Street Slip and located across from The Guvernment night club.

Andy Shepard, CEO of the Maine Winter Sports Center and the Mainebiz 2011 Business Leaders of the Year in the nonprofit category, talks about how his organization measures the economic impact of its events; what other intangible benefits the events may offer the region, such as the exposure the region gets from having 120 million Europeans watching the races in northern Maine on television; and what's next for the Maine Winter Sports Center.

9/28/1968 Yankees at Red Sox Mickey Mantle's last at-bat in the major leagues
This is a short video from the Sept. 28, 1968 game between the New York Yankees and the Red Sox in Boston, in which Yankees legend Mickey Mantle has his final at-bat in the major leagues.
The game, the second-to-last of the season at Fenway Park, was broadcast on WHDH TV in Boston, with Ken Coleman on the play by play here.
Mantle came up in the first inning to face Jim Lonborg and got a nice round of applause. He popped to shortstop Rico Petrocelli, then trotted back to the dugout, Andy Kosco replacing him in the bottom half of the inning and playing first base.
Lonborg had just recently given up Mantle's 536th and final career home run (the announcer short-changes the Mick a bit). It was tough watching Mantle hit late in his career because of his bad legs, but even so, he still could whi...

Espen Eriksen – piano, Lars Tormod Jenset – bass, Andreas Bye – trommer, Andy Sheppard – saksofon

World-renowned saxophonist Andy Sheppard was awarded an honorary Doctor of Music degree on 21 February, 2019. Here's his speech, followed by a rather special musical performance.

It was tough watching Mantle hit late in his career because of his bad legs, but even so, he still could whip that bat around.
