Highway 21 has average annual daily traffic (AADT) of 500 vehicles a day and truck traffic is 30% of this total. Unity has two inland grain terminals. The oil and gas industry is also active in this area.
History
In 1999 the granular pavement section of Highway 21 north of Kerrobert was tested with a cold in-place recycling or “CIR” method to rehabilitate highways. This CIR process is a cost-effective method which recycles the top surface of a road. This pulverized material is mixed with asphalt emulsion and spread and compacted back onto the highway surface. This surface is then recovered with a new seal dependent on traffic volume.
Highway 32 is a highway in southwestern Saskatchewan, connecting Leader and Swift Current. It is about 140km (87mi) long, connecting several rural communities along the route including Abbey, Cabri, Cantaur and Success.
History
The first travel in this area was by foot, and two wheeled ox cart and horse drawn freight wagon using trails on the sod. The first train arrived in Lancer in 1913. The late 1920s and 1930s saw the automobile arrive to a few families in the area.
Maintenance
The winter of 2000 saw 6.4 resurfaced on this highway. The road west of Cabri to the east of Shackleton was repaired.
In 2005, 10.1kilometers were resurfaced. Construction work began at on highway 32 at the entrance to Success and continued west for 10.1km. Wheel ruts and surface detoriation were levelled and filled and a microsurface treatment was put into place to restore resistance to skidding.
The highway has become infamous for its extremely poor condition, which can primarily be attributed to a substandard pavement design (not built for heavy trucks in the mostly agricultural and oil-producing area) and claims of lack of maintenance. The condition of the route is so bad that ambulances are avoiding the route as much as possible.
Alberta Provincial Highway No. 21 is a north-south highway in the province of Alberta, Canada, that parallels Highway 2 (the Queen Elizabeth II Highway), between the Calgary Region and the Edmonton Capital Region.
Highway 21 is approximately 327km (203mi) in length. It begins at the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1) in the south, 10km (6.2mi) east of Strathmore, and ends at Fort Saskatchewan where it is succeeded by Highway 15. The final 25km (16mi) of the highway is twinned.
SR21 begins at an intersection with SR204 (Abercorn Street) in Savannah. The route travels to the west, becoming a freeway, and gains the designation of Interstate 516 (I-516) and the unsignedSR421. The routes travel west, then turn to the north at the interchange with Veterans Parkway. At exit 3, US17/SR25 join the freeway from the southwest, and US80/SR26 join the freeway from the northeast. Continuing north, the routes have an interchange with I-16, at which point, US17 departs to the east, concurrent with I-16. At exit 7, US80/SR26 depart to the west, and the routes turn northwestward. After an interchange with SR25, I-516/SR421 end, and SR21 continues its northward route. In Port Wentworth, SR30 joins the route; north of their interchange with I-95, SR30 departs to the west.

I met a guy who moved from L.A. to Saskatchewan once upon a time. He agrees with me about how sensational the skies are in this province.
