The Trans-Canada Highway (French: Route Transcanadienne) is a transcontinental federal-provincial highway system that travels through all ten provinces of Canada between its Pacific Ocean and Atlantic Ocean coasts to the west and east respectively. It is, along with the Trans-Siberian Highway and Australia's Highway 1, one of the world's longest national highways, with the main route spanning 8,030km (4,990mi). The system was approved by the Trans-Canada Highway Act of 1949, with construction commencing in 1950. The highway officially opened in 1962, and was completed in 1971. The highway system is recognizable by its distinctive white-on-green maple leaf route markers.
Throughout much of Canada, there are at least two routes designated as part of the Trans-Canada Highway (TCH). For example, in the western provinces, both the main Trans-Canada route and the Yellowhead Highway are part of the Trans-Canada system. Although the TCH does not enter any of Canada's three northern territories, the Trans-Canada Highway forms part of Canada's overall National Highway System, providing connections to the Northwest Territories, Yukon and the international border where connections can be made to the United States.
Trans Canada Highway is an EP by the ScottishIDM duo Boards of Canada. It was released on 29 May 2006 by Warp Records. According to Boards of Canada's official site, the EP was originally scheduled for release on 6 June 2006. (That date being written numerically as 6/6/06, harking back to their use of the number 666 on the album Geogaddi.) The original retail vinyl release of the EP was pressed on white vinyl, while re-issues were pressed on black.
Music video
The EP contains the duo's first ever music video, directed by Melissa Olson. The video pieces together various found video and film clips in order to create a short narrative to the song "Dayvan Cowboy", which also appears on Boards of Canada's 2005 album The Campfire Headphase. The video begins with stock footage of Joseph Kittinger's landmark sky dive in 1960, from a helium balloon that had pierced the atmosphere, effectively leaving Kittinger in free fall from space. The video then shows footage of Laird Hamilton landing in the ocean after his parachute successfully opens. As he rises to the surface, he grasps a surfboard and begins to ride waves.
King's Highway 417, commonly referred to as Highway 417 and the Queensway through Ottawa, is a 400-series highway in the Canadian province of Ontario. It connects Montreal (via A40) with Ottawa, and is the backbone of the transportation system in the National Capital Region. Within Ottawa, it forms part of the Queensway (along with Ottawa Road 174 east to Trim Road) west to Highway 7. Highway417 extends from the Quebec border (near Hawkesbury) to Arnprior, where it continues westward as Highway 17. Aside from the urban section through Ottawa, Highway417 passes through farmland that dominates much of the fertile Ottawa Valley.
Within Ottawa, the Queensway was built as part of a grand plan for the city between 1957 and 1966, and later reconstructed to its present form throughout the 1980s. The eastern section, from Gloucester to the Quebec border, opened in 1975 in preparation for the 1976 Montreal Olympics. Sections west of Ottawa have been under construction since the mid-1970s, with the latest section bypassing Arnprior opening on November29, 2012.

Ever crossed the TRANSCANADA? World 2nd biggest country in a LR Defender! (EP 23 - World Tour)
This week we drive the legendary #transcanadahighway! We are literally crossing half of #Canada in just a few days through the prairies all the way to the #rockymountains. To give you an idea, Canada is the second biggest country in the world... That was a lot of driving. #Ontario, #Manitoba, #Saskatchewan and #Alberta, a lot of road and fields for our #Landrover #defender. Many people describe the prairie provinces as a monotonous and almost boring drive. Monotonous it is for sure. But after a month in the forests of the Eastern part of Canada, we actually found refreshing seeing open fields for a bit. On the road we enjoy the landscapes, take the time to work on things we never have time for, and meet other travelling friends. Arriving in #Calgary we meet with the guys of #DUER who kindl...

Our time in Toronto has come to an end, we pack up the last of our things and bid the 6ix farewell. We start our road trip across Canada on the Trans-Canadian Highway! It took five days of driving to get from Toronto to Calgary, taking in the views and roadside attractions. We introduce you to the Big Dog (our Land Cruiser) and our little dog, Betsy. Eric tries a ketchup potato chip for the first time and we stop to see Mac the Moose and Husky the Muskie.

In April 2017 I left Australia for a solo trip around the world on a BMW F800GS. I named it “Are We There Yet” because I don't know my final destination or the duration of this journey.
Throughout my journey, I'm raising money for a young disabled child in Poland named Franek. Franek was diagnosed with cerebral palsy (weakness of the entire right side of the body) and he will require constant rehabilitation for the rest of his life. All the money raised will go directly to helping Franek and his family lead as normal a life as possible so please donate generously: https://gogetfunding.com/arewethereyet/

Arriving in #Calgary we meet with the guys of #DUER who kindly invited us to check out their store. We meet again with some of Nick's friend living in the area and check out their #schoolbusconversion . Absolutly amazing. Eventually we make it to the #canadianrockies and start of with a hike in #kananaskis country: mount #yamnuska. That is only an appetizer for what is coming up next week as we enter #banff and #yohonationalpark.

Taking the SUV on one last adventure across Canada! From Vancouver Island to Southern Ontario in 5 days! Crazy to think that we called this vehicle our home for a few months as we left Ontario to travel to the Arctic last summer! It's definitely bittersweet having to say goodbye to this tiny home on wheels but it is getting one last ride to Ontario where it will get the love it deserves !

It connects Ottawa with Montreal via A-40, and is the backbone of the transportation system in the National Capital Region. Aside from the urban section through Ottawa, Highway 417 passes through farmland that dominates much of the fertile Ottawa Valley.
King's Highway 416, commonly referred to as Highway 416 and as the Veterans Memorial Highway, is a 400-series highway in the Canadian province of Ontario that connects the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 417) in Ottawa with Highway 401 between Brockville and Cornwall. The 76.4-kilometre-long (47.5 mi) freeway acts as an important trade corridor from Interstate 81 between New York and Eastern Ontario via Highway 401, as well as the fastest link between Ottawa and Toronto. Highway 416 passes through a largely rural area, except near its northern terminus where it enters the suburbs of Ottawa. The freeway also serves several communities along its length, notably Spencerville and Kemptville.
King's Highway 401, commonly referred to as Highway 401 and also known by its official name as the Macdonald–Cartier Freeway or colloquially referred to as the four-oh-one, is a controlled-access 400-series highway in the Canadian province of Ontario. It stretches 828 kilometres (514 mi) from Windsor in the west to the Ontario–Quebec border in the east. The part of Highway 401 that passes through Toronto is North America's busiest highway, and one of the widest. Together with Quebec Autoroute 20, it forms the road transportation backbone of the Quebec City–Windsor Corridor, along which over half of Canada's population resides. It is also a Core Route in the National Highway System of Canada. The route is maintained by the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) and patrolled by the Ontario Provincial Police. The speed limit is 100 km/h (62 mph) throughout its length, with the only exceptions the posted 80 km/h (50 mph) limit westbound in Windsor and in most construction zones.

In this episode I'm crossing from Labrador to Quebec and finally I hit some gravel! Quebecan part of this highway is very remote but so scenic. I truly enjoyed that isolated part of Canada.

Subscribe to the channel to be sure you do not miss anything ! See you next week, and until then take care!

Drivelapse video of Ontario's Highway 416 starting from the401 in Kingston and heading easterly along the northern edge of the St. Lawrence River and Seaway before joining the 416 from its southern terminus. The video heads northerly for the entire length of Highway 416 before following the 417 in Ottawa (the Ottawa Queensway) easterly all the way to Orleans.
Driving Ontario highway 417, 416 and 401 from Ottawa to the US border (1000 Islands).
King's Highway 417, commonly referred to as Highway 417 and the Queensway through Ottawa, is a 400-series highway in the Canadian province of Ontario. It connects Ottawa with Montreal via A-40, and is the backbone of the transportation system in the National Capital Region. Within Ottawa, it forms part of the Queensway west from Highway 7 to Ottawa Road 174. Highway 417 extends from the Quebec border, near Hawkesbury, to Arnprior, where it continues westward as Highway 17.

Drivelapse video of the Trans-Canada Highway starting from Highway 7 in Carleton Place Ontario, heading easterly along Highway 417 through Montreal, and then continuing easterly near Casselman and Hawkesbury, before entering Québec and following Autoroute 40 and Autoroute 30 before crossing the Samuel-De-Champlain Bridge and entering Montreal.
There's no short cut And no straight line How am i to find the sleeping country? Ghost horse in my head keeping time Wandering lines Trans Canada Hot dice keep rolling Try to lose our nothin' Now familiar, now forgotten To get the prize Forget the song We're here and gone Trans Canada I had that vision, brother The one about you, brother We did ride, ride on the shining path together The black angel I was on his side Burn our deep river Looking into the night No vacancy So long Trans Canada
