Ian Scott Anderson, MBE (born 10 August 1947) is a Scottish-born musician, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist best known for his work as the lead vocalist, flautist and acoustic guitarist of British rock band Jethro Tull. Anderson plays several other musical instruments, including keyboards, bass guitar, bouzouki, balalaika, saxophone, harmonica, and a variety of whistles. His solo work began with the 1983 album Walk into Light, and since then he has released another five works, including the sequel of Jethro Tull album Thick as a Brick (1972) in 2012, entitled Thick as a Brick 2.
Ian Anderson was born the youngest of three siblings. His father, James Anderson, ran the RSA Boiler Fluid Company in East Port, Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland. Anderson spent the first part of his childhood in Edinburgh, Scotland. He was influenced by his father's big band and jazz records and the emergence of rock music, though disenchanted with the "show biz" style of early American rock and roll stars like Elvis Presley.
Robert John Gurney Anderson (16 June 1925 – 11 January 2005), known as Ian Anderson, was a former President of the Legislative Council of the Isle of Man.
Mr Anderson was born in Glencross, Rathmullan, County Donegal, Ireland, in 1925. He left school at the age of 13 and joined the Belfast Technical College before moving to the Isle of Man in 1946. In 1963 Ian was elected as a member of Patrick commissioners and remained as such until being elected as member of the House of Keys for Glenfaba. In 1982 he was elevated to the Legislative Council and remained a member until retiring from Tynwald in 1993. In 1988 he was elected as the, second ever non-Governor, President of the Legislative Council. He served until 1990 when the constitution was altered and Sir Charles Kerruish became ex officio President. Ian Anderson also held many Ministerial-level appointments during his career. He died on 11 January 2005.
His son is David Anderson MHK.
Ian Gregory Anderson (born 14 October 1948, in Horsham) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Essendon in the Victorian Football League (VFL).
Anderson, who was recruited to Essendon from Miga Lake, debuted in 1967 and finished the year with 21 goals. A forward, he kicked a career best tally of seven goals against Hawthorn in the opening round of the 1968 season. He didn't play in 1969 or 1970 due to war service in Vietnam, where he fought as a Private with the 8th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment. When he returned he spent one final season at Essendon before moving to Western Australia and representing his adopted state at the 1972 Perth Carnival.
The figure of Mother Goose is the imaginary author of a collection of fairy tales and nursery rhymes often published as (Old) Mother Goose's Rhymes. As a character, she appears in one nursery rhyme. A Christmas pantomime called Mother Goose is often performed in the United Kingdom. The so-called "Mother Goose" rhymes and stories have formed the basis for many classic British pantomimes. Mother Goose is generally depicted in literature and book illustration as an elderly country woman in a tall hat and shawl, a costume identical to the peasant costume worn in Wales in the early 20th century, but is sometimes depicted as a goose (usually wearing a bonnet).
Mother Goose is the name given to an archetypal country woman. She is credited with the Mother Goose stories and rhymes popularized in the 1700s in English-language literature, although no specific writer has ever been identified with such a name.
17th century English readers would have been familiar with Mother Hubbard, a stock figure when Edmund Spenser published his satire Mother Hubberd's Tale in 1590; as well as with similar fairy tales told by "Mother Bunch" (the pseudonym of Madame d'Aulnoy) in the 1690s. An early mention appears in an aside in a French versified chronicle of weekly happenings, Jean Loret's La Muse Historique, collected in 1650. His remark, comme un conte de la Mère Oye ("like a Mother Goose story") shows that the term was readily understood. Additional 17th century Mother Goose/Mere l'Oye references appear in French literature in the 1620s and 1630s.
Mother Goose was a 1970s New Zealand band formed in Dunedin, in 1975.
Only eighteen months after forming, Mother Goose had smashed attendance records for gigs in every city in Australia and New Zealand (many of these house records still stand today). Stuffed, their debut album became Mushroom Records fastest selling album, and "Baked Beans" was a hit single across Australia; and their self-directed film clip for "Baked Beans" was so popular it was played on television stations between prime time programmes (in addition to dominating every Aussie TV rock show).
In late 1975, six Dunedin musicians wanted to play rock music, but came up with a name they considered low-brow, Mother Goose, and one of their trademarks was dressing in ludicrous attire.
After a successful concert in Albert Park, Auckland, Mother Goose decided to move to Australia and started playing at Cloudland in Brisbane and at the Playroom on the Gold Coast, Queensland in late 1976. Their promoter, Ivan Dayman, contacted top Australian manager, Garry Spry, who flew up from Melbourne to see them and agreed to become their manager. He showcased the band at his Babes nightclub, and Mushroom Records offered them a recording contract, and their debut album, Stuffed, was released in 1977.
Mother Goose is an alternative rock band from Porvoo and Helsinki, Finland.
Mother Goose started playing alternative rock in 1989. They have recorded albums for a number of labels, such as Blast First and Seriously Groovy in the UK and Verdura Records, If Society and Lamplite Ltd. in Finland.
Ian Hugh Myddleton Anderson (1953 – 2 February 2011) was a leading figure on the British far-right in the 1980s and 1990s.
Anderson was born in Hillingdon. Anderson's involvement in politics began in the mid-1970s when he was close to certain elements on the right of the Conservative Party, particularly the Monday Club .
Anderson viewed himself as a 'respectable' figure in right wing circles and spent some time at the University of Oxford on two separate occasions studying zoology.
Anderson joined the National Front in the late 1970s and was initially seen as a supporter of National Organiser Martin Webster. However, when the Political Soldier faction, led by figures such as Nick Griffin and Derek Holland, moved against Webster and his assistant Michael Salt, Anderson sided with the rebels and used his casting vote to ensure that Webster and Salt were expelled for mismanagement.

During this fantastic concert Zara performed together with Ian, presenting two songs of Jethro Tull and two Dogma songs. In Ian's words, Dogma is...."The best musical metal band this side of Mars. A quick tutorial / lesson on the chords and picking patterns in Ian Anderson's "Mother Goose" acoustic. Since so many people have asked, the guitar is a Seagull Grand 'parlor' guitar with an LR Baggs ibeam pickup installed after purchasing. This guitar works great for Ian's acoustic finger-picked tunes.
Recorded Live at jethro tull concert with Anoushka Shankar on 2nd dec 08 at Bangalore. It was such a memorable concert. The concert that began at 7.30pm with a solo recital by Anoushka, the daughter of sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar, acquired an element of pathos and sobriety because of the Mumbai terror attack - snapshots of which loomed large over the show The concert was divided into three acts. A solo performance by Anoushka was followed by Jethro Tull and a "tea with Anoushka jugalbandi session". The high point was the Jethro Tull and Anoushka collaborative session, which saw a foot-tapping blend of rock, Western classical, Celtic and Indian classical music. It featured fusion tracks, especially composed for the concert by Anderson, like "Tea with Anoushka" - a peppy l...

I looked in the mirror then
saw my face in a dream.
With eyes sharp as diamonds
Blessed with clear vision
Things were not as they seemed
Black and White Television
stared back from the wall.
Is that my life?
Am I here at all?
Down in the High Road, see
motor cavalcades glide
past shopwindow dressers
desperately covering
all the parts they can hide.
Black and White Television
stares at me again.
Is that their lives?
Even dummies pretend.
The truth is so hard to deny.
The answer is here
The screen never lies.
Black and White Television.
It's the right television.
Show me it's all a dream tonight.
The boys on the corner sulk
in their Suzuki haze.
In primary colours
(each year more startling)
but they still fade to grey
on Black and White Television.
It's sweeping the land.
Is that your life?
Do you understand?
Black and White Television
Back the right television
Black and White Television
Hard to fight television
Show me it's all a dream
