Provincial Trunk Highway 75 (PTH 75, also officially known as the Lord Selkirk Highway) is the main highway from Winnipeg, Manitoba, to the U.S. border, where it connects with Interstate 29.
Route description
The highway, which is part of Canada's National Highway System, begins at the Canada-United States border at Emerson and runs approximately 101 kilometers (63 miles) north, along on the west side of the Red River, to Winnipeg. There it connects with Pembina Highway, which forms the southern portion of Winnipeg Route 42.
The entire route is a 4-lane divided highway, but access is not fully controlled. Proposals do exist to upgrade the highway to an expressway or freeway standard with bypasses at Morris and St. Norbert. PTH 75 consisted of two lanes south of Morris until approximately 1992 when the current four-lane divided highway between Morris and United States border was built.
History
The PTH 75 route originated as a trail used by early settlers to travel between the Selkirk Settlement and Fort Pembina. The provincial government officially designated the road as the Lord Selkirk Highway in 1962 to commemorate this.
Highway 14 (AR 14, Hwy. 14) is an east–west state highway in north Arkansas. The route of 227.35 miles (365.88km) begins at Boat Dock Road near Table Rock Lake and runs east to Mississippi County RouteW1020 (CRW1020) at Golden Lake. The highway's general alignment between the western terminus and Marked Tree closely follows the original routing as established in the initial 1926 Arkansas state highway numbering plan. The route from Highway 140 in Lepanto east across Interstate 55 to Golden Lake is a later extension.
NC 14 begins at exit 153 of the US 29 freeway east of Reidsville. US 29 in this area is proposed to become part of Interstate 785. US 158 heads east from this point but NC 14 and US 158 travel in a northwestern direction through woodlands as a four-lane wide highway with a center turn lane. The road enters the city after a one-quadrant interchange with East Market Street and passing under a railroad. The route then crosses US 29 Business, where US 158 leaves the right of way to the west, following US 29 Business. NC 14 then exits the city after passing through a small commercial strip, entering a mix of woods, homes, and farmland. The road through here remains a five-lane roadway. Most junctions here are at-grade intersections though the northernmost junction with Bethlehem Church Road, an overpass carries the road over NC 14 with a single on-ramp to NC 14 southbound. After a long, straight stretch, the route intersects US 311, NC 87, and NC 770 (Harrington Highway) just before it crosses the Dan River and enters Eden.
Manitoba (i/ˌmænᵻˈtoʊbə/) is a province located at the longitudinal centre of Canada. It is one of the three prairie provinces and is the fifth-most populous province in Canada, with a population of 1,208,268 as of 2011. Manitoba covers an area of 649,950 square kilometres (250,900sqmi) with a widely varied landscape; the southern and western regions are predominantly prairie grassland, the eastern and northern regions are dominated by the Canadian Shield, and the far northern regions along the Hudson Bay coast are arctic tundra. Manitoba is bordered by the provinces of Ontario to the east and Saskatchewan to the west, the territory of Nunavut to the north, and the US states of North Dakota and Minnesota to the south.
Manitoba was a system-on-a-chip (SoC) introduced by Intel Corporation in 2003. It was a mostly unsuccessful attempt by Intel to break into the smart phones market. The chip integrated flash memory, a digital signal processor and an XScale processor core. After the chip's failure in the marketplace, the business was sold to Marvell in 2006 for $600 million.
