Al Martino (born Jasper Cini; October 7, 1927 – October 13, 2009) was an Americansinger and actor. He had his greatest success as a singer between the early 1950s and mid-1970s, being described as "one of the great Italian American popcrooners", and also became well known as an actor, particularly for his role as singer Johnny Fontane in The Godfather.
Early life
Jasper "Al" Cini was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The name Jasper was an anglicisation of his father's name, Gasparino. His parents were immigrants from Abruzzo, Italy, who ran a construction business, and while growing up he worked alongside his brothers as a bricklayer. He was inspired to become a singer by emulating artists such as Al Jolson and Perry Como, and by the success of a family friend, Alfredo Cocozza, who had changed his name to Mario Lanza.
Career
After serving with the United States Marine Corps in World War II, during which he was part of, and injured in, the Iwo Jima invasion, Cini began his singing career. Encouraged by Lanza, he adopted the stage name Al Martino—based on the name of his good friend Lorraine Cianfrani (née Losavio)'s husband Alfred Martin Cianfrani—and began singing in local nightclubs. In 1948 he moved to New York City, recorded some sides for the Jubilee label, and in 1952 won first place on Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scoutstelevision program with a performance of Como's hit "If".
Jealous Heart is a classic C&W song written by American country music singer-songwriter Jenny Lou Carson. In the mid 1940s it spent nearly six months on the County & Western charts. It was subsequently recorded by several Pop singers.
Early versions
The first recording of "Jealous Heart" was made in 1944 by its composer Jenny Lou Carson. That 20 September Tex Ritter recorded the song: his version spent 23 weeks on the C&W chart peaking at #2.
The song had its first impact in the Pop field via a recording by Al Morgan, a Chicago-based vocalist/pianist whose version of "Jealous Heart" released September 1949 was on the hit parade for six months spending ten weeks in the Top 5.1
Also in 1949 Ivory Joe Hunter had an R&B hit with "Jealous Heart"; Hunter's version reached #2 R&B that December.
"Jealous Heart" - which Ernest Tubb had recorded in 1945 - was also recorded in 1949 by C&W singers Bill Owens and Kenny Roberts while Pop versions were cut by Bill Lawrence, Jan Garber & His Orchestra (vocal by Bob Grabeau) and Hugo Winterhalter & His Orchestra (vocal by Johnny Thompson).
"Jealous Heart" was Máire Brennan's second solo single, taken from her album Máire released the same year. The cover features a photograph by the Douglas Brothers. A promotional video directed by the Douglas Brothers was also produced. The title track of the single was written by Christie Hennessy.

Artist: Al Martino / Song: Mary In the Morning
Al Martino performs "Mary In the Morning" with Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.
LYRICS
Nothing's quite as pretty as Mary in the morning
When through a sleepy haze I see her lying there
Soft as the rain that falls on summer flowers
Warm as the sunlight shining on her golden hair
When I awake and see her there so close beside me
I want to take her in my arms, the ache is there so deep inside me
And nothing's quite as pretty as Mary in the morning
Chasing a rainbow in her dreams so far away
And when she turns to touch me, I kiss her face so softly
Then my Mary wakes to love another day
And Mary's there in sunny days or stormy weather
She doesn't care 'cause right or wrong the love we share, we share together
And nothing's quite as pretty as Mary in ...
