Nova Scotia (Latin for "New Scotland", pronounced in English as /ˌnoʊvəˈskoʊʃə/) (French: Nouvelle-Écosse; Scottish Gaelic:Alba Nuadh; Scots:New Alba) is one of Canada's three Maritime provinces, and one of the four provinces which form Atlantic Canada. Its provincial capital is Halifax. Nova Scotia is the second-smallest province in Canada, with an area of 55,284 square kilometres (21,300sqmi), including Cape Breton and another 3,800 coastal islands. As of 2011, the population was 921,727, making Nova Scotia the second-most-densely populated province in Canada.
Nova Scotia is the third album by Cousteau, released in 2005 on the Endeavour record label. It was subsequently released in the U.S. under the band name 'Moreau' due to legal reasons on the One Little Indian label with two additional tracks (*). The US release also featured new artwork.
Davey Ray Moor had previously left the band leaving the main song writing duties to be taken over by lead singer Liam McKahey. "We thought it was the end and we were all feeling really emotional," says McKahey of Moor's departure. "But after a few pints, we'd decided to carry on and do it (the songwriting) ourselves. It was sink or swim, and we decided to swim."
Taking its name from the Township of Digby , which had been named in honour of Rear Admiral Robert Digby who dispatched HMS Atalanta to convey loyalists from New York City in the spring of 1783 to Conway, which became known as Digby, Digby County was established in 1837. Previously, from August 17, 1759, when Nova Scotia was first divided into counties, this area had been part of Annapolis County.
The Canadian wine industry also vinifies imported grapes and juice. These products are labeled Cellared in Canada
and are not required to conform to the strict Vintners Quality Alliance content regulations.
Icewine, which can be produced reliably in most Canadian wine regions, especially the Okanagan Valley, is the most recognized product on an international basis. Canada produced 75.9 million litres of wine in 2002 (0.3% of world production).

A DELICIOUS DAY IN DIGBY!
Taking advantage of beautiful weather we decided to head to Digby for the day. Just over an hour from Kentville and over two hours from Halifax, it is worth the drive.
I started with breakfast at The Sea Biscuit Cafe & Eatery and discovered bacon dipped in jam is SO GOOD. Then we drove 8 minutes out to Point Prim, which has beautiful views of Digby Gut and would be fantastic for a picnic lunch.
We moved onto Carla's Take Out & Seafood Market for decadent scallops and I tried rapure for the first time! It just opened in June and it is already a fantastic spot for food. Head next door and can buy seafood from Adrian, who is very particular about quality, ensuring they only serve the best.

Digby, Nova Scotia: My Top Things To Do & See
Even if you’ve never been to the small seaside town of Digby, there’s a decent chance your taste buds have. It’s a gateway to Nova Scotia’s Bay of Fundy—home to the famous Digby scallops served in restaurants around the world. From its ageless fishing industry to its landmark buildings, history is very much alive in Digby, and there’s no time like the present to visit. In this video, we show you a few highlights for the ideal itinerary, starting at the Digby Pines Golf Resort and Spa, the crown jewel of Digby’s accommodations. The resort was built in 1929 by the Canadian Pacific Railway, as evident by it’s grandiose look and castle like building that offers an incredible waterfront view that can best be enjoyed at the outdoor pool.

Eating Nova Scotia Seafood! In this week’s video (and upcoming videos) we’ve teamed up with Tourism Nova Scotia to explore the Digby Area and the Annapolis Valley in western Nova Scotia, Canada. Digby is famous for both scallops and whale watching, so in this video we’ll be doing both!

Then of course I needed to head to Guy's Frenchys, which I think is a MUST when you're in Digby.
And we could not leave without heading to Ed’s Take Out, which was recently renovated inside and has so much more space! I love the family photos as well as Mi'maq information. I have eaten here many times and did not know it was a Black Indigenous business in Nova Scotia.
Although I know there are so many more places to eat we had to head home. But it's such an easy drive I know I'll be back so please let me know what else I should see and do in Digby!
I'm a Canadian travel blogger at home for the summer and autumn. But I'm making the most of my time by traveling Atlantic Canada.
This video is in partnership with Nova Scotia Tourism Association to inspire local travel in the wonderful towns in we often overlook.

In Digby, you’re never far from great scallops, or Nova Scotia’s premier attractions! You can take day trips to Brier Island for lighthouses and whale watching, Bear River to explore a village on stilts, and Annapolis Royal for historical fun.

We start off at Fundy Restaurant on the Digby Waterfront to try World Famous Digby scallops and fish and chips. We got a sampler of the scallops which had a few different types (bacon wrapped, garlic and butter, and panko crusted).
The next day we drove down Digby Neck to go whale watching with Petit Passage Whale Tours. During our afternoon tour we saw a whole bunch of Atlantic White Sided Dolphins and Humpback Whales. It was an experience we will never forget!
Lastly we give you a quick tour of the Digby Pines Resort, where we stayed during our time in the Digby Area.

When Digby, Nova Scotia is your hub, and you've eaten all the scallops, it's time for more adventures.
Here's three great day trips:
Brier Island: 1 hour 45 minutes from Digby

Bear River: 17 minutes from Digby
Bear River is a storybook village on stilts, where the Bay of Fundy tides rise and fall daily, swelling an otherwise shallow river. Visit the kiosk in the village to learn about Bear River’s culture and history, including Bear River First Nations, shipbuilding and lumbering heritage, and the artists’ trail.
Put local wine and food on your menu and visit Bear River Winery, Sissiboo Coffee Roaster and Myrtle and Rosie’s Café.
Annapolis Royal: 31 minutes from Digby
This welcoming waterfront community embraces thousands of years of Mi’kmaq heritage and its over 400 years of French, Scottish, and British history. The town is idyllically situated between mountain and sea, offering a stunning waterfront shopping area, with a selection of restaurants, world class accommodations, a vibrant arts and culture scene, and plenty of outdoor activities.
