"Cleveland Rocks" is a rock song by Ian Hunter from his 1979 album You're Never Alone with a Schizophrenic. The song is seen as a de facto anthem in Cleveland, Ohio. The song was played every Friday at 6:00 PM on Cleveland radio station WMMS beginning in 1979 and is used as a victory song for the city's sports teams. In recognition of "Cleveland Rocks", Hunter was given the key to the city by Cleveland mayor Dennis Kucinich on June 19, 1979.
Origins
The song was inspired in part by the songwriter's desire to counteract the poor reputation of a city for which he had some affection. Hunter states on his web site, "the inspiration for 'Cleveland Rocks' goes back to the old days when people used to make fun of Cleveland. Cleveland was 'uncool' and LA and NYC were 'cool'. I didn't see it that way. Lotta heart in Cleveland."
The song was first released in 1977 under the title "England Rocks" on a single in the United Kingdom, predating the release of the "Cleveland" version by two years. Hunter has maintained, however, that Cleveland was the original subject of the song, stating on his web site, "I originally wrote 'Cleveland Rocks' for Cleveland. I changed it later to 'England Rocks' because I thought it should be a single somewhere and Columbia wouldn't release it as a single in the U.S. (too regional). 'Cleveland Rocks' is Cleveland's song and that's the truth."
Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1991 and disclosed his condition to the public in 1998. Fox semi-retired from acting in 2000 as the symptoms of his disease worsened. He has since become an advocate for research toward finding a cure; he created the Michael J. Fox Foundation, and on March 5, 2010, Sweden's Karolinska Institutet gave him a honoris causa doctorate for his work in advocating a cure for Parkinson's disease.
Since 2001, Fox has mainly worked as a voice-over actor in films such as Stuart Little and Disney's Atlantis: The Lost Empire. On the CBS TV show The Good Wife, he earned Emmy nominations for three consecutive years for his recurring role as crafty attorney Louis Canning. Fox has also taken recurring guest roles and cameo appearances in Boston Legal, Scrubs, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Rescue Me. He has released three books: Lucky Man: A Memoir (2002), Always Looking Up: The Adventures of an Incurable Optimist (2009), and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Future: Twists and Turns and Lessons Learned (2010). He was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2010.

The Naked Brothers Band is an American musical comedy series created by Polly Draper. The show depicts the daily lives of Draper's sons, who lead a fictional world-renowned rock band from New York City. As a mockumentary, the storyline is a hyperbole of their real lives, and the fictional presence of a camera is often acknowledged. Lead vocals and instrumentation are contributed by the siblings; they wrote the lyrics themselves. The show stars Nat Wolff and Alex Wolff, who encounter conflicts with each other that are later omitted. Nat's fictional female admirer and real life preschool friends—including the guitarist who had no prior acquaintance with the family—feature as the band members, with the siblings' genuine father and Draper's husband as their accordion-playing dad and Draper's niece as the group's babysitter.
The series is a spin-off of Draper's 2005 film of the same name that was picked up by Nickelodeon, premiering in January 2007. Draper, star of Thirtysomething and her writings The Tic Code and Getting Into Heaven, is the executive producer of the series, and often writer and director. Albie Hecht, former Nickelodeon president and founder of Spike TV, is the executive producer, under his Worldwide Biggies tag. Draper's jazz musician husband Michael Wolff serves as the music supervisor and co-executive producer with Draper's brother, Tim, as the consulting producer.
JB Goode, circa 1986. We should get the band back together.

You Got No Place to Go (Cover) - Michael J Fox
This cover song comes from the movie "Light of Day" starring Michael J Fox and Joan Jett. I saw the flick when I was a kid in the 80s and Michael J Fox played an acoustic version of this song in the movie, which I think is catchier than the recorded version. Does this flick have any nostalgia for anyone else out there?

A live version of "Cleveland Rocks" appears on Hunter's 1980 album Welcome to the Club and on the soundtrack to the 1987 film Light of Day, a movie with Joan Jett and Michael J. Fox that is based in Cleveland.
The "England Rocks" version appears on the compilation albums Shades of Ian Hunter: The Ballad of Ian Hunter and Mott the Hoople and The Very Best of Ian Hunter, as well on the CD re-issue of Hunter's 1977 album Overnight Angels.

This cover song comes from the movie "Light of Day" starring Michael J Fox and Joan Jett. I saw the flick when I was a kid in the 80s and Michael J Fox played an acoustic version of this song in the movie, which I think is catchier than the recorded version. So it's got some nostalgia for me. The chorus of this tune cropped up in my head a few days ago (11/25/11) so I checked the internet to see if I could find the song. I did and I learned it. The soundtrack is apparently rare and hard to find so the cheapest I saw it for was $20 and it goes up to more than $100 on Amazon from there....Needless to say I didn't buy it. I barely learned the song so it's a little sloppy but with balancing work and being a parent I sort of let perfection go by the wayside. I hope you enjoy this cover and check out the movie. Does this flick have any nostalgia for anyone else out there?
Thanks for listening,

Michael J. Fox – (You Got No Place To Go) “1987”
Lyrics:
You got no place to go
Ain′t that a shame?
You say you've been kicked around
Well, I feel just the same
You got no place to go
You got no place to go
You got no place to go
So why don′t you stay with me?
Why don't you stay with me?
If you have something to say
Who would you tell?
If you think I ain't been listening
You don′t know me so well
You got no place to go
You got no place to go
You got no place to go
So why don′t you stay with me?
Why don't you stay with me?
Hey, how do you want me to look at you?
Hey, now that they′re throwing the book at you
Hey, look at you!
You've got no one to love
That′s what you say
But I got a drawer full of photographs
Of friends you threw away
You got no place to go
You got no place to go
You got no place to go
So why don't you stay with me?
Ohhh, why don′t you stay with me?
You got no place to go
You got no place to go
So why don't you stay with me?
Why don't you stay with me?
You got no place to go
You got no place to go
So why don′t you stay with me?
Ohhh, why don′t you stay with me?
You got no place to go
You got no place to go
You got no place to go

"Cleveland Rocks" is a rock song by Ian Hunter from his 1979 album You're Never Alone with a Schizophrenic. The song is seen as a de facto anthem in Cleveland, Ohio. The song was played every Friday at 6:00 PM on Cleveland radio station WMMS beginning in 1979 and is sometimes used as a victory song for the city's sports teams. In recognition of "Cleveland Rocks", Hunter was given the key to the city by Cleveland mayor Dennis Kucinich on June 19, 1979.
'Cleveland Rocks' is Cleveland's song and that the truth."
