Winter storm watch: Heavy lake effect snow expected in Lake, Ashtabula counties
More wintry weather is on the way for portions of Northeast Ohio, which is why the National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Lake and Ashtabula counties with “heavy lake effect snow possible.”
The weather alert is in effect from late Thursday night through Monday morning.
3News’ Anthony Copeland says we’re tracking a “significant amount” of lake effect snow.
“A northwest flow is going to be established across the Great Lakes, so lake effect really cranks up Friday morning, Friday afternoon, Saturday, Sunday, right into your Monday,” Copeland says.

The Lake County Active Threat/Mass Casualty Incident Drill Training Group, comprised of law enforcement, dispatch, and fire personnel from Lake County, Ohio, completed three consecutive days of Active Threat/Mass Casualty Incident Drills that commenced on Tuesday, June 21st and concluded on Thursday, June 23rd, 2022.
The drill, held at Lakeland Community College in Kirtland, Ohio, drew approximately 260 police, fire and dispatch personnel from across Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula and Cuyahoga Counties. This will trigger lake-effect snow in the northern lakes, and we'll watch the lake snow develop over Lake Erie and Ontario thereafter. The NWS has upgraded Ashtabula, Geauga and Lake counties to a Lake Effect Snow Warning. A Winter Weather Advisory is issued for northeast Cuyahoga county. Lake County Sheriff's deputies save elderly heart attack victim
Two Lake County Sheriff's deputies are being lauded as heroes after providing life-saving aid to an elderly man who had a heart attack.
On Monday, May 22, deputies Dustin Majewski and Bucyrus Palo were on patrol near the area of the Cambridge Condominiums on Mentor Avenue in Painesville Township when they responded to a 9-1-1 call.
The elderly man had collapsed outside of his residence and was found unresponsive. The deputies worked together to administer CPR until the man started breathing again.
Shortly after his breathing started, the Painesville Township Fire Department took over aiding the man and transported him to the Tri-Point hospital.
A doctor at the hospital later spoke to the deputies, telling them that had they not been at the scene to begin CPR, the man would not have su...

Two Lake County Sheriff's deputies are being lauded as heroes after providing life-saving aid to an elderly man who had a heart attack.

Two Lake County Sheriff's deputies are being lauded as heroes after providing life-saving aid to an elderly man who had a heart attack.
On Monday, May 22, deputies Dustin Majewski and Bucyrus Palo were on patrol near the area of the Cambridge Condominiums on Mentor Avenue in Painesville Township when they responded to a 9-1-1 call.
The elderly man had collapsed outside of his residence and was found unresponsive. The deputies worked together to administer CPR until the man started breathing again.
Shortly after his breathing started, the Painesville Township Fire Department took over aiding the man and transported him to the Tri-Point hospital.
A doctor at the hospital later spoke to the deputies, telling them that had they not been at the scene to begin CPR, the man would not have survived.
He is currently listed in critical condition.
