Robert Arthur "Bob" Mould (born October 16, 1960) is an American musician, principally known for his work as guitarist, vocalist and songwriter for alternative rock bands Hüsker Dü in the 1980s and Sugar in the 1990s.
Forming in 1979, Hüsker Dü first gained notice as a punk rock group with a series of recordings on the independent label SST Records. In 1986, they signed with a major record label (Warner Bros. Records), but found only modest commercial success. However, they were later often cited as one of the key influences on 1990s alternative rock, including bands such as Nirvana and the Pixies.
In the late 1980s, Hüsker Dü broke up acrimoniously amid members' drug abuse, personal problems, disputes over songwriting credits, musical direction, and the suicide of the band's manager, David Savoy. Mould and Grant Hart, the band's other songwriter and vocalist, still take occasional jabs at each other in the press, though the two briefly revisited their Hüsker Dü back catalog together at a 2004 benefit concert for an ailing friend, the late Karl Mueller of Soul Asylum.
Bob Mould (sometimes referred to as Hubcap) is the third solo album by former Hüsker Dü and Sugar guitarist and singer Bob Mould. It was recorded and mixed between September & November 1995 and released in April 1996. Mould played all of the instruments on the album himself, and the sleeve notes declare, "This one is for me." In the place of traditional band credits, the sleeve states, "Bob Mould is Bob Mould."
The song "Dog on Fire," which was chosen to be the theme song of The Daily Show, was originally written for this album.

The District line is a London Underground service that crosses Greater London from east to west. From Upminster, the eastern terminus, the line runs through Central London to Earl's Court before dividing into three western branches, to Ealing Broadway, Wimbledon and Richmond. There is a short branch that goes from Earl's Court to Kensington (Olympia). A branch also runs north from Earl's Court to Edgware Road via Paddington. Coloured green on the tube map, the line serves 60 stations in 40 miles (64km), and with bridges across the Thames on the Wimbledon and Richmond branches is the only London Underground line to cross the river in this way. The track and stations between Barking and Aldgate East are shared with the Hammersmith & City line, and between Tower Hill and Gloucester Road and on the Edgware Road branch with the Circle line. Some of the stations are shared with the Piccadilly line. Of the 60 stations served, 25 are below ground. Unlike London's deep-level tube railways, the railway tunnels are just below the surface, and the trains are of a similar size to those on British main lines.
Returning from his previous solo album, Body of Song, are drummer Brendan Canty, of Fugazi fame, and cellist Amy Domingues. Mould handled all of the other instruments himself.
The closer, "Walls in Time," is actually a track that failed to make his 1989 solo debut, Workbook.

Beat The Tube - Can You Run Faster Than The District Line?
I found some old newspaper cuttings from 20 year ago when a team of people had tried to beat the tube running from South Kensington to Fulham Broadway, by getting off the train .. running down the road .. and getting back on the same train!
So I spoke to my Runderground friend Matt and asked him if he'd like to try and do the same thing, once from outside the station, and once from the train/platform itself.

as performed by Bob Mould as interpreted by Matthew Savoie Is it a crime, to want to show your soul We've wasted our time, another black hole This guide is not even lost, not even sure Now find the disease or the cure Has life lost all its glory and wonder Sad tales are told again and again Sleep toss and turn my old bed What a tale, again and again Now all the stories of the world could fit in a building In a building high and wide Well it's filed under headdings That no one's quite sure of But Lord knows that everyone tried When the pen meets the paper When the mind, it begins to stray How a sould can lose its will to explain Oh explain, again and again Day after day, day after day, day after day. Oh-- oh-- no no no... We all cry once in a while It doesn't fit well with your smile But then are those tears, are they for real Again and again it's how you feel If I was losing life, when picked from the ground A nice arrangement for the occation But when flowers when moved from place to place Lose all meaning, dislocation, dislocation Mmmmmm oh ah--- no now... When a sleepless night A flame attempts to spark us all We might burn, candle light A waste of time, another dead soul If these walls around my soul could talk The words would lose importance Within these walls I hold So hear these words We all want to leave a mark somewhere With those of us who feign to care If all fortune its times we find a way To build up these walls in time, to build up these walls in time. Is it a crime?
