Hylo Brown (April 20, 1922 – January 17, 2003) was a bluegrass and country music singer, guitarist and bass player.
Biography
Frank "Hylo" Brown, Jr. was born in River, Johnson County, Kentucky and began his career as a performer on radio station WCMI in Ashland, Kentucky in 1939. Soon, he moved to WLOG in Logan, West Virginia and their "Saturday Jamboree". Six months later, he moved with his family to Springfield, Ohio. He began composing songs and performing on local radio stations in Ohio. During an appearance at WPFB in Middletown, Ohio he received his nickname "Hylo" because Smoky Ward, who was on the show, couldn't remember his name and started calling him "Hi-Lo". That nickname was a humorous indication of Brown's presumed vocal range. In 1950, he recorded with Bradley Kincaid at WWSO studio in Springfield. Four years later, Brown wrote a song, Lost To A Stranger, that was sent to Ken Nelson, the A & R man of Capitol Records. The song was meant to be recorded by Kitty Wells but instead, Nelson offered Brown a recording contract if he recorded it himself. On November 7, 1954, he cut his first recordings for Capitol Records. Lost To A Stranger became his first hit. In early 1955, he formed the "Buckskin Boys" performing on the WWVA Jamboree in Wheeling, West Virginia. In 1957, he joined Flatt & Scruggs on their "Martha White Mills" shows, and he was regularly featured in solo performances as well as with the Foggy Mountain Boys. He renamed the "Buckskin Boys" calling them "The Timberliners". The Timberliners consisted of Brown on guitar, Red Rector on mandolin, Jim Smoak on banjo, Clarence "Tater" Tate on fiddle and Joe "Flap Jack" Phillips on bass. After his Capitol contract had expired, Brown signed with Starday Records in 1961. He retired in 1991 and moved to Mechanicsburg, Ohio. Hylo Brown died on January 17, 2003. He is interred in Rose Hill Burial Park, Springfield,
Clark County, Ohio.
Being Nobody is a song produced by Richard X and recorded by English-Irish pop group Liberty X. It was released as the lead single from Richard X's debut studio album Richard X Presents His X-Factor Vol. 1 (2003), as well as the lead single from Liberty X's second studio album Being Somebody (2003).
The song is a pseudo-mashup, taking the lyrics of Chaka Khan's signature song "Ain't Nobody" and placing them over an instrumental interpolation of The Human League's "Being Boiled". Additional elements from both songs were also used such as the recurring synth line from "Ain't Nobody" and the line "OK, ready? Let's do it." in the intro of the main mix are from the intro of "Being Boiled".
Reception
Critical reception
The song received mostly positive reviews from music critics. It was deemed "instantly memorable" by RTÉ.ie reviewer Linda McGee, whilst Louis Pattison of NME believed it was "Truly, a record to get over-excited about." Alexis Kirke of musicOMH said: "The marriage of the credible dance-bootleg production of Richard X with high profile pop-act Liberty X is not only a perfect career-expanding synergy for both, but also a powerful musical synergy in which the seventies meets the eighties during the noughties." Writing for ukmix.org, Martin P gave the song five stars out of five and called it "It's pure pop perfection with a twist of R&B – one of the best Liberty X singles!"
Light After Dark is the debut album by British singer-songwriter Clare Maguire which went in at number 7 in the UK Albums Chart. "Ain't Nobody" was released as the first single from the album on 18 October 2010, followed by "The Last Dance", which was released on 20 February 2011. "The Shield and the Sword" was released as the third and final single to be released from the album on 9 May 2011. All three of the released singles have accompanying music videos, featured on Maguire's YouTube VEVO account, each produced and directed by their own respected creators.
Composition
For Light After Dark, Maguire wrote all the tracks in collaboration with Fraser T Smith, who also produced all tracks on the album, with the exception of "Freedom", which was produced by German producer Crada and songwriting team Paralle, and the iTunes pre-order track "Burn", which was produced by Starsmith. Maguire has stated in interviews that she felt it was extremely important that the strings and drums in her songs were all recorded live, and this was a big element of her first album.
Ain (French pronunciation:[ɛ̃]; Arpitan: En) is a department named after the Ain River on the eastern edge of France. Being part of the region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and bordered by the rivers Saône and Rhône, the department of Ain enjoys a privileged geographic situation. It has an excellent transport network (TGV, highways) and benefits from the proximity to the international airports of Lyon and Geneva.
Ain is composed of four geographically different areas (Bresse, Dombes, Bugey and Pays de Gex) which – each with its own characteristics – contribute to the diversity and the dynamic economic development of the department. In the Bresse agriculture and agro-industry are dominated by the cultivation of cereals, cattle breeding, milk and cheese production as well as poultry farming. In the Dombes, pisciculture assumes greater importance as does wine making in the Bugey. The high diversification of the department's industry is accompanied by a strong presence of the plastics sector in and around Oyonnax (so-called "Plastics Valley").
The ʿayin glyph in these various languages represents, or has represented, a voiced pharyngeal fricative (/ʕ/), or a similarly articulated consonant, which has no equivalent or approximate substitute in the sound‐system of English. There are many possible transliterations.
Origins
The letter name is derived from Proto-Semitic*ʿayn- "eye", and the Phoenician letter had an eye-shape, ultimately derived from the ı͗rhieroglyph
To this day, ʿayin in Hebrew, Arabic, Amharic, and Maltese means "eye" and "spring" (ʿayno in Neo-Aramaic).
The Phoenician letter gave rise to the GreekΟ, Latin O, and CyrillicО, all representing vowels.
The sound represented by ayin is common to much of the Afrasiatic language family, such as the Egyptian, Cushitic, and Semitic languages. Some scholars believe that the sound in Proto-Indo-European transcribed h3 was similar, though this is debatable. (See Laryngeal theory.)
An ain is a spring in North Africa, which reaches the surface as a result of an artesian basin and is of particular importance in arid regions. It can produce a flow of water directly or result in evaporitic saline crusts. Known examples are found in the oases of the Tunisian region of Bled el Djerid and in the entire area around the depressions of Chott el Djerid and Chott el Gharsa. Here, there are water-bearing strata, usually of sand or sandstone, that act as aquifers in their function.

Hylo Brown The Girl in the Blue Velvet Band with The Foggy Mountain Boys
Flatt & Scruggs appeared on various country music variety TV shows, but they received their own 30-minute syndicated television show through WSM in 1955. The Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs Grand Ole Opry Show featured guests such as Maybelle Carter and many famous singers of the era, and this new form of broadcast media widely increased their fame and influence. The episodes captured a dynamic that couldn’t be translated over airwaves alone.
While Flatt called the shots and directed much of the banter onstage, Scruggs leaned on his technical ability more than flare. The show ran until 1969, when the two disbanded.

Ram Dass first went to India in 1967. He was still Dr. Richard Alpert, a prominent Harvard psychologist and psychedelic pioneer with Dr. Timothy Leary. He continued his psychedelic research until that fateful Eastern trip in 1967, when he traveled to India. In India, he met his guru, Neem Karoli Baba, affectionately known as Maharajji, who gave Ram Dass his name, which means “servant of God.” Everything changed then – his intense dharmic life started, and he became a pivotal influence on a culture that has reverberated with the words “Be Here Now” ever since. Since 1968, Ram Dass has pursued a panoramic array of spiritual methods and practices from potent ancient wisdom traditions, including bhakti or devotional yoga focused on the Hindu deity Hanuman; Buddhist meditation in the Theravadin, Mahayana Tibetan, and Zen Buddhist schools, and Sufi and Jewish mystical studies. Perhaps most significantly, his practice of karma yoga or spiritual service has opened up millions of other souls to their deep, yet individuated spiritual practice and path. Ram Dass continues to uphold the boddhisatva ideal for others through his compassionate sharing of true knowledge and vision. His unique skill in getting people to cut through and feel divine love without dogma is still a positive influence on many people from all over the planet.

Form and Suffering
What is your first reaction to suffering? Ram Dass looks at the role of the ego in our reactivity to life’s dark reflections. Exploring how our response to suffering changes as the hearts open through our practices along the spiritual path.
“When we face suffering, the first thing is that we have to react immediately – because we have to change it. That is the first natural reaction and is fed by our psychological ego. The recognition of suffering is a threat to the stability of the ego. The first step is to slow down.” – Ram Dass
Just Another Cloud (28:00)
The ego’s love always has conditions, Even in its relationship with God. Ram Dass looks at the way in which God’s unconditional love can open us to living in truth and loving without any strings attached. He examines the way in which meditative practice can bring balance to our perspective and relationship with the world.
“Once you see that the only thing that keeps you in your own head trips, of who you think you are and how you think it is, a lot of stuff that meant a lot to you before stops meaning so much. I don’t care if I am bald, because God loves me.” – Ram Dass
Choosing Love Over Fear (44:40)
How can choosing love, even romantic love, bring us out of separation and into a deeper level of awareness? Ram Dass looks at the way in which the heart allows for the experience of grace and true being. How can we create the optimum environment for our hearts to open?
“What we are talking about here are very subtly varying techniques for working with where you are stuck. The doorway is through the heart, because through the heart love flows. The mind creates boundaries.” – Ram Dass

Ram Dass's work included work with the love serve remember foundation and publishing countless books including such incredible works as Grist for the Mill, Be Here Now, & Journey of Awakening. Ram Dass born as Richard Alpert and Timothy Leary were two professors at Harvard who conducted research on psychedelics, lsd, and psilocybin in the early 1960s. Their work helped to popularize psychedelics and psychedelic experiences among the counterculture of the time. However, their work was eventually shut down by the Harvard administration and they both left the university.

Ram Dass’ spirit has been a guiding light for three generations, carrying along millions on the journey, helping to free them from their bonds as he works through his own.
