Stardust is an Animals and Fantasy Canvas Webtoon created by Holly France. It updates on Sundays.
Synopsis[]
What does it mean to be alive? - With everything on the line, a group of dysfunctional demigods must come to terms with their previous lives in an attempt to save their current ones - and everyone else’s too, that is.
Characters[]
Holly France[]
The main character of Stardust. A laid back and down to earth minded individual, Holly could quite easily be described as a nihilist, she takes her life without a sugar coating as often bleak and unpredictable as it is. This though surprisingly more often leads to her coping better in the knowledge she cannot worry over what she can’t change, and enjoys the little things in life rather than focusing on the bigger picture of her situation. She is immensely sarcastic and relies on her humor to get her by, though can shut down easily in social situations if the other reciprocates against this, Holly has adopted a somewhat motherly and very open relationship with a lot of the people close to her, and again finds it hard to form bonds with anyone more closed off, despite getting easily attached to people. She is rarely very active by choice, and prefers to lounge and relax over any strenuous activity, content with attempting to keep her life as calm as possible in a world trying to do the opposite.
Damaen Arcanes[]
A strong, fit, and sporty individual, Damaen on the outside is near perfect, he can hold himself well in both social and combat situations, as well as having excellent emotional understanding and endless patience for those he deems in need of protection. However due to his partner Havana’s state, he has developed severe separation anxiety and an overprotective nature, leading to him panicking intensely when away from him. Though he often hesitates to show it in front of Havana, Damaen inwardly struggles at times to be both of their strength, and needs outsider support and reassurance that he is making the right choices. He still manages to keep his brave face despite this though and at his best is a pleasure to be around, friendly and funny and a safe presence for those in need, knowing full well he would stop at nothing to defend those he holds dear, for better or for worse.
Havana De-Vo[]
Though an outwardly gentle and soft soul, Havana fights a relentless internal battle to subdue the horrors eating away at his mind. He is possessed by a place he calls the ‘Dreamverse’, and any amount of disruption or violence in his life can cause it to spiral and turn him progressively more aggressive, Havana lives in fear the Dreamverse will fully take him over and cause him to commit acts far beyond his normal will or capability. In actuality beneath the curse, he is loving and sweet albeit dramatic and sarcastic at times, he suffers from depression due to his state, and relies on his dark humor to downplay it. Havana cannot be left alone from this either, and is highly reliant on others for support especially mate Damaen, whom despite loving dearly, he rightfully worries is in critical danger from Havana himself, and lives in turmoil whether Damaen would be better off with or without him.
Tommy Karter[]
An older individual and voice of reason within the group, yet despite being a natural parental figure, Tommy still dwells on his faults that lead to the loss of his previous family. He is a gentle giant, and more than often the one the others turn to for advice, though he himself remains somewhat reserved and far from eager to discuss his own troubles by comparison. Tommy doesn’t always see himself as worthy of being a father, despite it being one of his greatest dreams, he has to some degree adopted Jasper as his own, and over time the pair are healing together. He also remains certain he will never find another partner since the passing of his wife Marissa due to Custos’ age range, he is very traditionally romantic, and understands and stresses the benefits of spending one’s life with another in some way. Tommy loves the outdoors and attempts to spend most of his time enjoying the fresh air and beauty of the world, gardening and relaxing, searching for the joys in a life seemingly against him.
Apollo Sasuke[]
Though on the outside at times he can still appear cold and stuck-up, deep down Apollo only longs for the acceptance and love he could never reach in his past life. Despite being in the process of healing, he often still resorts to putting up walls and shutting off when he’s unsure of how else to act, Apollo is cautious and suspicious of kindness from anyone he isn’t already close with, hindering his ability to form new relationships. Regardless of how this appears to outsiders though, underneath and to his family he’s delicate and scared, unsure of himself and how to respond to difficult situations, and requires a lot of reassurance that he is reacting right. Apollo knows his small frame would never hold him in physical conflict, so if angered relies on verbally retaliating instead, he has a tendency to say a lot he doesn’t necessarily mean if mentally cornered and finds himself afraid at how easily he can still resort to his old ways in a panic.
Jasper Balt[]
An energetic and determined individual, Jasper never lets anything deter him once his mind is set. Despite his younger age he is bold and brave, bringing life to the group through the endless enthusiasm he uses to cope with the hardships of his previous life. He finds it immensely difficult to react whenever he’s forced into a serious situation and can’t fall back on his youthful ignorance, going so far as to fully shut down in especially stressful moments and refusing to cooperate. Jasper often acts before thinking, making him appear reckless and not always the brightest, but his honest and expressive personality make him hard to stay mad at, he always wears his heart on his sleeve and is extremely easy to get along with. He is difficult to contain, requiring very little rest and needing near constant stimulation, preferring mostly to be outside to sprint around, continuing to make the most of life even after everything it has thrown at him.
Zann Imari[]
A mysterious and unpredictable individual, Zann’s vastly different past life forever causes him difficulty in adapting to his new one. Though his social skills are far from ideal, he becomes more eager to improve with each day in an attempt to form new and better bonds than he ever had before, his inexperience never hindering his determination. At times he can still find himself unsure on the legitimacy of the group’s relationship, worrying if they genuinely do care for each other or are instead simply using the others to cope, though as his understanding of love grows, he is starting to better grasp the ways in which he and they express it. Despite what his past lack of this may entail, Zann has infact always held a noble stance of defending those around him, sacrificing everything so his companions may thrive, he is selfless in this often overlooked regard, and it only grows the more attached he is becoming to people.
King Parker[]
Once the benevolent yet unwilling ruler of a lost kingdom, sweet and nervous King is constantly in search of other’s approval and eager to please. He is riddled with anxiety and struggles to find self-worth outside of his use to other people, he cannot handle being alone and craves attention and love to a distressing degree. King often finds hesitance at expressing himself from having to fit the mould of his past life so precisely, which as a result only adds to the feeling of having to conform to what others want him to be. In the moments he does let himself be true, he finds a lot of confidence in makeup and accessories, and has an almost sassy side most will probably never see, given it is near exclusively shown to those closest to him. As time passes, whether it be from desperation to break out or something else entirely, King is slowly reshaping to for the first time in his life truly be himself, whatever that may entail, and whatever consequences it may bring.
