I do what I want... by Tracy Blackwolf

 Hello everyone!

Today I made a card for the blog-

For todays card, I wanted to do a watercolor. I stamped the image on mixed media heavy stock. it can really take a lot of medium weather its paints or water or whatever.

I stamped with black versafine clair and dried it with my heat tool. didn't want any smearing. Then I sprayed my TH stains into the plastic pallet. Then just start painting.

I chose the colors for the impression of innocence to go with the snarky sentence .For the blue background, I first went around with my wet paint brush and then took color just out of the cap of the bottle of salvage patina. I wanted it real light.

I dried the card, and then cut my cardstock for the layers and put it all together. Last, I put the sticker sentence on and carefully painted it yellow to match the card. And that is it! I hope you enjoyed!

Lady grey by Cathy N

Good morning, all happy February. Cathy here with a watercolor postcard.

I started out with a watercolor postcard and stamped Lady Grey and triangle banner

Next, I used watercolor paints to paint and color the postcard.

All of them had shimmer except the background paint. After that was dry, I stamped grunge 1787 writing background with some blue distress ink randomly over the background.

Helloooooo

Hello friends, Aimee here.
Today I have a fun card using the zombie boy and a couple of other stamps from plate 1480.

This card came together easily and was fun to create. So fun in fact that I made three 😁

First, you need a white card base.
Mine is a top folding card made from Accent Opaque 120 lb card stock.
Grab your new Tim Holtz stencil and some Distress Ink (I used Mermaid Lagoon). Stencil right onto that card front, mostly to the right.

Now get some heavy white card stock OR watercolor paper, and some masking material.
I used the same Accent Opaque card stock as the card and a full-stick post it note.
Stamp the zombie boy onto your paper and onto your masking material using permanent ink.

Cut out your mask and layer it over the boy.

Stamp one of the large funky flower images over the masked boy image. Peel off the mask and use the Distress Ink that you stenciled with to color the inside part of the flower image & the boy's pants.

Continue coloring/painting your image however you prefer.
I used Zig Clean Color markers and water.
Cut out to fit the card front.

Use a pen and draw sketchy lines around the cut panel.

Add the panel to the card front.
Stamp the helloooo on a scrap of the painted paper that was trimmed off the image panel.
Trim it out and ink the edges with black ink.
Add to the card front with foam adhesive.

Now bling it up 😁
Add some sequins and use a white gel pen in his eyes to brighten them up.

Supplies-
  • white card base, heavy white card stock or watercolor paper, blending tool
  • black permanent ink
  • adhesives
  • bling
  • white gel pen
  • watercolor, markers, however you like to color
  • Tim Holtz stencil
  • Distress Ink
  • plate 1480

Everywhere she went.... mixed media card

Hello friends! Aimee here happy happy May!
I have a lovely mixed media card to share with you today.

Here's a shot of most of the supplies- we're using watercolors and chalk markers.

Let's work on some watercolor paper.
I started with a piece approx 5x7" and cut it down when the piece was finished.

First, add some random watercolor to the paper in colors that you like.
Once you're satisfied with this you can either set it aside to dry, or dry it with a heat tool.

Once dry, choose a stencil with large open areas (this one is from Dylusions). Use the chalk markers through the stencil. When you remove the stencil you can soften the edges of the designs with a damp paint brush if you want.

Now let's stamp a little on the back ground.  I used the x's from plate 1495- ya really should get this plate- especially if you like to art journal or do mixed media work. Stamp with black permanent ink.

Once you like your background, it's time to trim it down to fit a card. I like to work on a larger piece of paper and then trim it down when it's finished so I have nice clean edges.
I used a Waffle Flower layering die.

Mat your background onto black card stock.

Now get out your stamp postitioner (you'll want this because you're stamping a fairly solid image onto watercolor paper). Place the panel inside and line the stamp up, approx in the center of the panel. Stamp with black permanent ink (I use Archival Ink) as many times as needed (I stamped twice).

Next, adhere the finished panel onto an A2 card (mine is a top folding card) with foam adhesive. I use fun foam sheets.

Color your lady in whatever way ya fancy. I just gave a little embellishment with gold & white gel pens.

Now, if you know me at all, you know my card motto is "no naked insides".
I stamped this gorgeous flower inside and added a little accent with a gold gel pen.

What type of flowers do you like?
I like alllll the flowers, but my favorite flowers are actually tulips and hyacinths.
Since I don't have either of those in my stash, I used this Tim Holtz/Sizzix set to make flowers for this card.

First, I watercolored some paper using the same paints that I used for the panel. Got 'em dry, and cut out the flower pieces.

Once my flowers were assembled, I inked the edges of some of them with Archival Ink (Jet Black of course).

Aren't they pretty!
I started layering the flowers by putting the first few onto the card glued flat. Then I started adding flowers with foam adhesive for some dimension.

Stamp the sentiment on a scrap of white card stock. Trim and edge with black ink. Add to the top left corner of the card.

My final step was to add some bling.

Supplies-
  • A2 card base, watercolor paper, adhesives, trimmer, die cut machine, gel pens, water, paint brush
  • black card stock
  • heat tool if you're impatient
  • Tim Holtz/Sizzix die set (or whatever flowers you prefer)
  • Waffle Flower A2 layering dies (or just use your trimmer)
  • bling
  • Archival Ink (Jet Black)
  • watercolor paints
  • chalk markers
  • plate 1478
  • xxx marks- single-plate

I hope you like this card. It came together fairly quickly, the worst part is drying time HA!!

Come see me on my You Tube Channel  and at my blog 😍

Happy Place Sunrise by Tracy Blackwolf

 Hello everyone!

Today I have a card that is a happy place ....A house in the woods by the lake.

I hope you enjoy it.

So First I took Some masking paper and stamped the house in black ink and then dried it. Then I took my card and stamped the house on that and dried it. I needed a mask so I could have the trees behind the house.

Then I took the trees stamp and inked with several inks and stamped several times, filling the background with trees. some without re inking. once happy with that I removed the mask of the house to check it before putting it back on.

Then I took my brown dye inks and smashed them on something plastic- can be ink pad lid, plastic bag, etc. I spritzed with water to use as watercolor and painted the tree trunks. I did the same with my sky colors and  proceeded to color the sky.

I kept the mask on as I was painting to keep the house clean for a different color. I kept layering the colors until I was happy with the look of it all. Adding darker colors where needed like the tree trunks. Once I was happy with the trees and sky, I removed mask and worked on the house.

after happy with that I cut some black and some cream colored cardstock and layered it all for a finished card.
I love using what ever I can for water coloring. I love the way the colors blend.
I hope you enjoyed this card... keep arting!!

Trust your own wings

Hello everybody,

there is still some time left to join the STRENGTH themed challenge over in the VLVS Facebook group. You need a little creative kickstart? Here we go! I went for an art journal page about self-confidence.

I started my page by applying water with a big watercolor brush in the shape of a big circle. Then I added some Starburst sprays from Lindy's. I used the sprays more as a watercolor.
To create more depth I worked with various layers - adding water (by spraying or flicking or with a brush), adding the spray paint, drying, continuing with another layer. It was so much fun!
As a final touch I drew a few scribbely lines around the circle.

For some background texture I chose two stamps, a nature collage and the waybill/invoice, which I stamped with black Versafine ink.

As a focal image I used the flying bird. I stamped it and got out my watercolors. Somehow I was able to blend the red from the bird's body into the turquoise of its wings without getting a muddy shade. After it had dried, I did some fussy cutting and inked the cutting edges with a black marker. This way the image blends better into the background.
I also cut the sentiment from a sheet of scrapbooking paper, glued it down and added some thin black lines around it.

Here are some more photos:
