Shroomite Armor is a Hardmode, post-Plantera armor set that boosts the effectiveness of ranged weapons. It is available after defeating Plantera and is the second-strongest ranger armor available, only beaten by Vortex armor () or Titan armor ().
With a full set equipped, standing still causes a player to enter "stealth mode": Over the course of roughly 1.5 seconds, the player will gradually turn almost fully transparent, which also diminishes the chance that enemies will target the player. Additionally, during this time, weapon damage, critical strike chance, and knockback will each be boosted gradually up to a maximum of +60% damage, +10% critical chance, and +50% knockback at full stealth. These boosts increase both weapon and ammo damage. The buff begins fading quickly if the wearer starts moving.
Shroomite armor has three headpiece options, each providing an extra ×1.15 damage boost that affects a different ranged weapon type:
- Shroomite Headgear for arrows
- Shroomite Mask for bullets
- Shroomite Helmet for rockets and all other ranged weapons that do not use arrows or bullets.
Note that this increase is applied after applying damage increases from the rest of the armor set, accessories and buffs. As a result, Shroomite headpieces provide a larger damage bonus than their tooltip would suggest.
Some ranged weapons do not receive the specialized boost from any of the three options (e.g. Star Cannon, Piranha Gun and Flamethrower), though they still receive the set stealth boost.
A full set of Shroomite armor will provide the following stats:
- +51 defense.
- ×1.15[1] damage of Arrows, Bullets, or Rockets, depending on which headpiece is worn.
- +13% ranged damage for all ranged weapons, including those not covered by the headpiece of choice.
- +25% ranged critical strike chance.
- +20% chance not to consume ammo.
- +12% movement speed.
- Ability to enter stealth mode.
Crafting Shroomite Armor requires Shroomite Bars (crafted from Chlorophyte Bars via the Autohammer, which is in turn purchased from the Truffle NPC). Crafting a full set with a single headpiece requires 54 Shroomite Bars (or 810 Glowing Mushrooms and 270 / 324 Chlorophyte Ores). A full set with all three headpieces requires 78 Shroomite Bars (1170 Glowing Mushrooms and 390 / 468 Chlorophyte Ores).

Notes[]
- With a full set equipped, the player leaves an afterimage effect during motion, similar to the one displayed by Shadow armor and Hallowed armor, but with a blue tint.
The +13% ranged damage bonus from the Shroomite Breastplate is not listed in its tooltip.- For the purposes of the specialized headpiece boost:
- The Stynger, Jack 'O Lantern Launcher, and Nail Gun count as rocket weapons.
- The Candy Corn Rifle and Coin Gun count as bullet weapons.
- The Stake Launcher counts as an arrow weapon.
- None of the headpieces boost the damage of the ammo items themselves.
- Using the Rod of Discord or the Hook of Dissonance will not cancel stealth mode.
- Stealth (and any associated bonus) will not work while mounted.
- Stealth is canceled if the player takes damage, even if they are resistant to knockback (making the bonus useless in combination with an invulnerability machine).
Tips[]
If the player changes their mind, the helmet piece can be shimmered and crafted into an alternative.- This armor set has good synergy with the Shiny Stone, as both require the player to stand still and not get attacked to maximize their effectiveness.
- While at first, tanking strategies such as abusing invincibility frames from lava damage with a Cross Necklace appear to pair well with Shroomite armour, because they require taking damage the stealth mode buff is removed and will not regenerate without stopping firing.
- This armor set also has good synergy with the Sniper Rifle, as stealth massively boosts the Sniper Rifle's main strengths – damage and critical strike chance – even further. With the right loadout, each rifle shot can deal over 1000 damage, killing most non-boss enemies in one hit.
- The set does not truly make the player invisible, as the armor glows a deep blue. For PvP purposes, consider using Familiar clothes in conjunction with Shroomite armor, and with no visible accessories. With stealth active, this can render the character completely invisible to other players. Also see Invisibility Potion.
- Wearing a Shroomite Mask with Silver Dye can make the player's head resemble a cracked skull.
- Some Dye combinations make the character sprite appear very near invisible at night. Provided below are several links to screenshots from testing.
- This armor set can be particularly effective when used with the Hook of Dissonance, as the teleportation of the hook is not considered movement for the purposes of the armor's stealth.
- Because many rocket weapons have low base damage and derive their power from the high base damage of their ammo, the Shroomite Helmet is often inferior to the Hallowed Helmet or Adamantite Mask, which boost both weapon and ammunition damage.
- If not using the stealth properties of this armor, swapping out the leggings for Mythril Greaves or Red Riding Leggings will increase your ranged DPS (and minion damage, if using the Leggings). Swapping out the chestplate for the Red Riding Dress will provide roughly the same ranged DPS and ammo conservation while adding another 25% minion damage.

Trivia[]
- Shroomite Armor is the only armor that has different headpieces with the same amount of defense.
- The Shroomite Mask resembles the Sonar Goggles from the Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell series.
- Because the stealth mode buff is on an analog scale, you can observe the damage of your weapons ticking up over the period of 1.5 seconds for the buff to take full effect.
- Similar behaviour is observed in the Psycho Knife, which also features a stealth mode.
