James Logan "Jim" Rice III is a contestant from Survivor: South Pacific.
Jim proved to be a very strong strategic player, forming the Savaii Alliance, whilst also forming many sub-alliances within it. He also blindsided Elyse Umemoto, fearing her closeness with returning player Ozzy Lusth. At the merge, however, Jim was relegated to the minority of the tribe once John Cochran flipped on their alliance. Although he managed to win the next Immunity Challenge, he was blindsided right after, being deemed as the strongest of the remaining Savaiis. He ultimately lost to Ozzy at Redemption Island, placing 12th and becoming the first member of the jury.

Survivor[]
Jim was one of eight new castaways placed on the Savaii tribe, where he lied about his occupation to not be seen as untrustworthy. When Savaii lost the inaugural Immunity Challenge on Day 3, Jim was visibly upset by the loss as he openly vented his feelings about Semhar's decision and poor performance at throwing the coconuts before leaving the challenge area. The gesture stirred conflict between Semhar and Jim, where the latter campaigned for the former's ouster. However, the tribe's returning player Ozzy advised Semhar to collect votes to dispose Cochran, who was also seen as a physical weak link. Learning Ozzy's plan of keeping her, Jim was becoming suspicious, sensing that the veteran player had ulterior motives. At Tribal Council, Jim got his way when the rest of the tribe voted out Semhar unanimously, sending her to Redemption Island.
The next day, Jim formed the Savaii Alliance consisted of himself, Ozzy, Keith, Elyse, and Whitney. When Savaii lost the third Immunity Challenge on Day 8, which required intense winching, Savaii, especially Mark, struggled to pull the winch with rhythm, narrowly losing to the rival Upolu tribe. Returning to camp, Mark's dismal performance and Cochran's weak physique were considered by the alliance. Weary of his standing, Mark directly asked the majority who they were voting for, to which Jim answered Cochran. But Mark saw through their lie and tried to find the Hidden Immunity Idol, which unknown to many, Ozzy had already found. Elyse caught Mark sprinting into the woods and relayed it to her alliance as she and Jim watched him try to find it. With Tribal Council just minutes away, Mark fashioned a fake idol and told Jim that he had a real idol. At Tribal Council, Jim voted Cochran to see if the idol was real, but the rest of the tribe called Mark's bluff and he was sent to Redemption Island.
However, following Mark's elimination, Elyse began to grow close to Ozzy. This concerned Jim, and he plotted with the remaining outsiders Dawn and Cochran to eliminate her. After losing the Immunity Challenge on Day 14, Jim told Keith and Whitney about his plan to vote out Elyse. The pair were hesitant however, not wanting to lose Ozzy's trust. At Tribal Council, Elyse and Ozzy went with their original plan of eliminating Cochran, while Keith and Whitney voted for Dawn to avoid Ozzy's anger. However, Jim's plan came to fruition, sending an unsuspecting Elyse to Redemption Island. When Savaii returned from Tribal Council, Ozzy felt betrayed by his alliance for voting out Elyse as he revealed his idol and declared himself a "free agent", but the tribe felt he was being childish about the blindside. But Ozzy soon patched things up with the tribe the next day. Savaii managed to reunite and win the next Immunity Challenge on Day 16. The tribe lost the Immunity Challenge on Day 18, and the tribe as a whole told Cochran he was leaving, and that if he beat Christine, he would come back into the game as a hero. However, Ozzy saw it as too risky after having a dream and introduced his new plan where he asked to be voted out so that he could beat Christine, allowing the on the outs Cochran to make the merge. At Tribal Council, Jim and the rest of the tribe went with Ozzy's plan, purposefully sending him to Redemption Island.
Savaii wanted Cochran to become the double agent and gather intel from the Upolu tribe at the merge. Unknown to the Savaii Alliance however, Cochran had notions of being "bullied" by his former Savaii tribemates and flipped over to the Upolu tribe during a talk with Coach. At Tribal Council, it came down to a 6-6 tie between Upolu's Rick and Savaii's Keith. However, when the tie votes came back, the Savaii tribe was stunned after realizing someone flipped, causing Keith to leave 6-4. Cochran admitted that he flipped to Upolu and said that he would state his reasoning later. Jim called him a "coward," but Brandon came to his defense. Returning to camp, Jim, Ozzy, and Whitney called Cochran out on his betrayal. When Jim beat out Sophie in the second individual Immunity Challenge, he came up with a plan to stir up Tribal Council by giving the Immunity Necklace to Ozzy, then make a rousing speech to get two of the Upolu's to vote against Cochran. At Tribal Council, Jim and Ozzy gave rousing speeches, but Jim did not hand over the Immunity Necklace because Upolu threatened him that they would vote him out if he gave the necklace to Ozzy. However, no one from Upolu flipped and Ozzy's fate was sealed as Dawn and Whitney joined the Upolu's in sending him back to Redemption Island. When Jim failed to win the next Immunity Challenge, he approached Albert and Sophie to join Savaii and blindside Edna. But at Tribal Council, the Upolu's stuck with their original plan and sent Jim to Redemption Island.
Jim competed in the first post-merge duel of the season with Keith and Ozzy. However, a twist came when only one person would win the duel, making the two people that lose the first two jury members. Jim faltered first, followed by Keith, eliminating them in 12th and 11th place respectively and becoming the first two jurors.
At the Final Tribal Council, Jim called out the Final Three of Albert, Coach, and Sophie as undeserving as the entire jury felt that Ozzy deserved to be where they were sitting. Despite that, Jim voted for Sophie to win along with the other Savaii's that remained loyal and Brandon, defeating Coach and Albert in a 6-3-0 vote to become the Sole Survivor.
