Minister was a political title used by the head of an administrative department.[3] When Eye of the Nihil Marchion Ro reformed the Nihil marauders into a functioning government during the High Republic Era, he established three ministries: the Ministry of Advancement, Ministry of Information, and Ministry of Protection[1] under three ministers. Those three were the Ithorian Baron Boolan, who worked as the Minister of Advancement, General Abediah Viess, who volunteered to stand as Minister of Protection,[10] and the former Senator Ghirra Starros, who worked as the Minister of Information.[1] The three ministers replaced the Tempest Runners who had previously helped manage the Nihil,[10] although in Ro's opinion it was more of the same.[1]
During the Clone Wars, Wat Tambor served as Minister for the Techno Union.[6] Royce Hemlock of the Imperial Advanced Science Division requested the title of the scientific minister from Galactic Emperor Palpatine in 18 BBY, to which Palpatine replied that it would happen in due time.[8] Maketh Tua was a minister in the government of Lothal, an Outer Rim planet occupied by the Galactic Empire.[4] Veris Hydan, one of the Emperor's advisers, was a minister.[11] A high position known as the Minister of War existed within the Imperial Military,[7] with one human who held the title at one point personally visiting a supply moon.[12]
Senator Nower Jebel of Uyter served the Alliance to Restore the Republic and had a seat on the Alliance Cabinet,[3] and later served the New Republic[5] as Minister of Finance.[3]
