Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress Overview

The Saatva Latex Hybrid is, obviously, a hybrid mattress, so it includes both coils and foams in its construction. The foams in this bed are made out of GOLS-certified, natural Talalay latex, so it is free of any toxic chemicals, emissions, or pollutants. Plus, this mattress includes recycled steel coils, a flame retardant barrier made from natural thistle pulp instead of fiberglass, and a cover and base layer made from organic cotton and wool.

In terms of feel, the Saatva Latex Hybrid is definitely a firmer hybrid model that offers excellent bounce and mobility. This makes it a strong choice for sleepers who prefer to feel more “on top” of their bed, rather than “sinking” into its layers. In general, I recommend this firm mattress for back sleepers, stomach sleepers, and combination sleepers, as it has strong support and an overall solid, durable feel. I also believe that the Saatva Latex Hybrid could be a great pick for heavier sleepers (those over 250 pounds), as these sleepers need more support and durability from their mattress to make sure that it's able to stand the test of time.

One added perk about the Saatva Latex Hybrid mattress is that it is not a bed-in-a-box mattress, so sleepers don't need to wait for an off-gassing or unboxing period before they can get a good night’s sleep. Instead, the Saatva brand offers free white glove delivery, along with in-room set up. Plus, if you need to dispose of your old mattress, Saatva will take it away for no additional cost.

To show customers exactly what they can expect out of the Saatva Latex Hybrid, we made sure to test this mattress out on camera, so sleepers can see how it functions in a variety of categories. Click on the video below to see how the Saatva Latex Hybrid performed in areas like cooling, edge support, and materials. Overall, the Saatva Latex Hybrid scored a 4.6 out of 5. We’ll get more into this bed’s individual scores in the section below.

Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress Sleepopolis Score

As you can see above, the Saatva Latex Hybrid scored lowest in our motion transfer category. This is mainly because of two reasons: The Saatva Latex Hybrid is a hybrid bed, so it includes coils in its construction, and it utilizes latex in its layers, which is a bouncier material. Therefore, if you sleep with a partner or a pet, you might feel their movements during the night on your side of the bed. What Is the Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress Made Of?

""

The Saatva Latex Hybrid is, as the name suggests, a hybrid mattress that contains both latex foams and innerspring coils. In general, this mattress has three distinct layers: The first constructed with Talalay latex, the second with individually wrapped coils, and the third with organic wool and cotton. We’ll dive a little deeper into the specifics of these layers below.

Cover – The Saatva Latex Hybrid includes an organic cotton cover that is quilted with wool. This cover provides a soft, cushioning feel for plenty of comfort right off the bat.

Comfort Layer – Below the cover is a layer of breathable Talalay latex. While sleepers might sink into this foam layer slightly, it does have a super quick response to pressure and a lot of bounce. Latex is great at dissipating body heat, providing a cooler sleeping experience than you might get from some memory or polyurethane foams. Plus, latex is typically more durable, meaning the Saatva Latex Hybrid should be able to last a good long while. An added perk of this layer is it’s naturally antimicrobial, which can be a bonus for sleepers who like to keep a close eye on their health.

Support Layer – Right below all of this latex comes the core of the bed, which consists of an individually wrapped coil system. This coil layer gives the Saatva Latex Hybrid some really excellent bounce and support, and it works with the Talalay latex layer to promote airflow.

Base Layer – The base layer of the Saatva Latex Hybrid includes an organic eco loft pad made of wool and cotton. This layer gives the pocketed coil support system something to reflect off of.

Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress Firmness

Now that you have a better idea of what the Saatva Latex Hybrid is made of, we can start to dig into how this mattress feels. How firm or soft a mattress feels can vary quite quite a bit from person to person, and it is often influenced by things like body weight and sleeping position. In order to provide a well-rounded idea of how firm the Saatva Latex Hybrid mattress really is, I enlisted some coworkers to help me test its firmness and come up with a mutually agreed upon rating.

First, I had my colleagues lie down on the Saatva Latex Hybrid, spend some time in different sleeping positions, and then rate this bed on a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 equating to an especially soft mattress and 10 equating to an especially firm one. After this, the scores were averaged together to create the Saatva Latex Hybrid’s final firmness rating, which is outlined below.

"Saatva

In general, I would describe the Saatva Latex Hybrid as a firm mattress. Ultimately, I gave it a 7.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale. For context, the industry standard for a medium-firm mattress is set at a 6.5. This score isn’t surprising when we factor in the coils and firm latex layers included in the construction of this mattress.
