Bayview Bistro open for business

A new food hub in the Bayview is now serving customers and spreading community at Third Street and Hudson Avenue. Currently, it’s three food vendors camped out near picnic tables at 101 3rd Street from Wednesday to Friday, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. They’re Soul Bowl’z, from Nima Romney, serving loaded mac and cheese and hot peach cobbler; Harold Agee of Big H BBQ, a well-known local barbecuer serving chicken sandwiches and ribs, and Yes Pudding, Quanisha Johnson’s business serving banana and bread pudding by the mason jar-full. “Nothing brings the community together like food,” San Francisco Mayor London Breed said at a launch event for the project. Bayview Bistro is also open on evenings the first and fourth Saturdays of the month, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A big new suburban biergarten greets Moraga

Suburban Moraga has a hit new brewery on its hands: Canyon Club Brewery. It’s Lamorinda’s first and only brewery, and its reportedly causing a stir in the neighborhood with 15 to 20 beers on tap, mostly made in-house. They’re ginning up a new, full food menu at the moment, but for now, the kitchen is serving food like homemade cauliflower bisque to go with their house hazy IPA.
