Romaji: Dracula II: Noroi no Fūin, Dorakyura Tsū: Noroi no Fūin
Meaning: Dracula II: The Seal of the Curse) is a role-playing game for the Nintendo Entertainment System released in 1988. It is the third installment in the popular series, but the second one released for the NES.
Its gameplay is similar to the obscure Vampire Killer (the second installment, released on MSX and Wii U), and very different from the first Castlevania for the NES. Together, Vampire Killer and Simon's Quest are the precursors of the critically acclaimed Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Nevertheless, some reviewers regard Castlevania II as one of the worst in the franchise. The game is criticized for its day to night transition, in which it pauses the entire game to change the visuals while showing a text box.

Trivia[]
It is often said that the characters in the game tell lies or give false tracks. Actually, the game suffers from an inaccurate English localization. An literal translation of the text can be found at Biskwit.fi.
The game was also featured on the controversial cover of the second issue of Nintendo Power magazine back in 1988 depicting Dracula's severed head.
Simon's Quest was featured the first episode of The Angry Video Game Nerd. In the series, the Nerd considers it his least favorite game of all time. The game was revisited in an episode where he reviews the entire Castlevania series.
