An Assist Trophy is an item found in the Super Smash Bros. series, beginning with the Wii game Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It is similar to the Pokéball item, as when thrown, a character from a video game will appear, and will usually have a positive effect for the user who threw it.

Helirin | Kururin | From the Kururin series, this character acts as a temporary rotating platform. |
Infantry and Tanks | Nintendo Wars | A group of soldiers and tanks from the Nintendo Wars series attack but shooting down opponents; their appearances is based on Advance Wars sprites. |
Isaac | Golden Sun | The main character of the Golden Sun series, Isaac will use the synergy power "Move" to push players off the stage. |

Mr. Resetti | Animal Crossing | A mole from the Animal Crossing series who, just like in the games, gives long and boring lectures, which tend to block either the top half of the screen, or the player damage levels, and sometimes the dialogues interact with certain events in the battle. Like Nintendog, he isn't a positive effect for anyone. |
Nintendog | Nintendogs | The Nintendog was the first Assist Trophy character revealed. However, it is one of the few characters that aren't positive for either the tosser or his opponents, as the dog will block the screen. |

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[]
There are 59 Assist Trophies in Ultimate, with 27 new ones, 30 returning from the previous game, and two returning from Brawl. In this game certain Assist Trophies can again be defeated, but this time players can get points in timed battles if they do. In addition multiple Assist Trophies can appear at once, and certain ones can even fight each other if sent out at the same time.
