History

The Heat was a group of corrupt and former cops who brought their own brand of "justice" to Hell's Kitchen. The Daredevils (Matt Murdock and Elektra Natchios) crippled their ranks after their first encounter.

By the time of the "Gang War", Lieutenant Rafael Scarfe assumed leadership of the Heat while the organization maintained control of Hell's Kitchen within New York City's criminal underworld. The Heat joined forces with Madame Masque, who provided funds and high-tech weaponry for their operations and hired Bellona to act as a middlewoman between her and the Heat. When tensions between superpowered gangs escalated to a city wide war, Daredevil (Elektra) volunteered to deal with the Heat.
