- Defeat of Sauron by the Last Alliance: he is overthrown by Elendil and Gil-galad, but they both perish in battle.[1][2]
- Isildur cuts the One Ring from Sauron's finger with the shard of Narsil, and the Dark Lord passes away, while his Ringwraiths hide into the shadows.[1][2]
- Despite Elrond's and Círdan's counsel to detsroy the Ring in the fires of Orodruin, Isildur keeps it for himself as a weregild for his father's and brother's deaths.[1][2]
- The Second Age ends.[1] In the aftermath of the War of the Last Alliance, many Elves depart to Aman, and the Ñoldor realms in Middle-earth is no more.[2]
