A revolt occurred among the Northmen in TA 1899 during the Wars of the Wainriders.
History[]
With the defeat of Gondor's King Narmacil II by the Wainriders at the Battle of the Plains in TA 1856, the hitherto independent Northmen principalities in Rhovanion were conquered and enslaved by the Wainriders.
In TA 1899 the Éothéod under Marhwini organised a revolt against the Wainrider occupiers of Rhovanion in co-ordination with an attack by King Calimehtar of Gondor. The king defeated the Wainriders at the Second Battle of Dagorlad. While Wainriders retreated, they could see their homes in Rhovanion burning.[1]
However, the revolt does not seem to have been fully successful as the Wainriders were only defeated and not destroyed and there is no mention of the Northmen principalities re-emerging.
