The Horn-cry of Buckland, also called the Horn-call of Buckland, was used by the Shire-hobbits in times of danger. The words were recorded as "Awake! Fear! Fire! Foes! Awake!"

Horn-cry of Buckland
History[]
Its first recorded usage was in the Fell Winter of 2911, when white wolves invaded the Shire. It was used again when Black Riders attacked Crickhollow during the War of the Ring; Fredegar Bolger escaped the house before they arrived. When he reached the nearest house, and the neighbors gathered that enemies were present, they sounded the Horn-cry.[1] Meriadoc Brandybuck also blew the Horn-cry, using the Horn of Rohan, when he roused the hobbits of Bywater.[2]
