The Dwarf-road was a major trading-route built by Dwarves of the Blue Mountains during the First Age.
Description[]
Beginning at Mount Dolmed, it passed through the Dwarven cities of Belegost and Nogrod, going down the mountains along the Ascar and passing through Sarn Athrad. It then crossed the Gelion following the encampment in Estolad, and finally came into Doriath, ending at the city of Menegroth. The road was built to facilitate the trade interests of the Dwarves with other peoples of Beleriand, and was considered to be the easiest way of passing into Beleriand from Eriador. Unfortunately, it was also used by the many wicked peoples of Middle-earth wishing to invade the land beyond. It was destroyed with the rest of Beleriand after the First Age ended with the War of Wrath.[1]
