Barad Nimras was a tower built by Finrod in FA 65,[1] on the Falas between the havens of Brithombar and Eglarest. It was built to keep watch, should Morgoth try to assail them from the sea; though it proved needless, as Morgoth and his servants never attempted war by the sea, fearing it.[2]
Etymology[]
Barad nimras is Sindarin, for 'tower of the white horn'.
Earlier names[]
Tindobel was the original name ascribed to this location. In revisions of The Silmarillion that name was replaced by Ingildon, which later was finally emended, to Barad Nimras.[3]
