“A ghost can be a lot of things. A memory, a daydream, a secret. Grief, anger, guilt. But, in my experience, most times they're just what we want to see.”
Based on the novel by Shirley Jackson, this show masterfully reimagines the haunted house trope, focusing on the complex experiences of the Crain family. It explores trauma, grief, mental health, complicated family dynamics, and how our memories influence our understanding of the world. Trauma has long term effects on the…

Shutter Island 2010
“Sanity's not a choice, Marshall. You can't just choose to get over it.”
This film was one of my favourite theatre-going experiences and I wish I could watch it for the first time again. The mind blowing visuals and storytelling changed the way I looked at films forever. Every frame is perfect; this film is a masterpiece and a really good adaptation of one of my favourite books. It explores the interconnectedness of trauma, memory, and the subconscious mind. Defense…

Meet Me in St. Louis 1944
I don't know where to begin reviewing this movie. It's something that is very near to my heart because I watched it at least once a week with my grandmother when I was growing up. It's heartwarming and beautifully crafted, and I'm able to appreciate the story and the visuals and the songs even more as an adult.
I love all the random twists and turns the story takes us in while we follow a family for the better half…

Klaus 2019
My Christmas Eve tradition. I love this film so much, and this year I’m showing it to my dad who normally dislikes animated movies.
The hand drawn art style and animation is stunningly beautiful. It’s not a Christmas movie in the traditional sense, but it gives us an origin story that is so unique and charming. The story highlights the importance of putting others before yourself and the positive impact that small acts of kindness can have on those around us.

The Witch 2015
"I am that very witch. When I sleep, my spirit slips away from my body and dances naked with The Devil. That's how I signed his book."
First time visiting this movie in nearly a decade since it came out, and I enjoyed it much more this time around. Claustrophobia, hysteria, and psychological tension that never gives up once it gets going.
I can't believe this was Anya Taylor-Joy's first film; she was absolutely incredible in this. All of the…

Home Alone 1990
As sweet as ever, this is a Christmas classic that ages so well despite being extremely 90s. I love every moment of it, especially every moment with the Wet Bandits. John Williams went so hard with the score for this and, while he didn’t have to, I appreciate it so much. Iconic music, iconic movie, amazing performance by Macaulay Culkin.
