It looks like the co-director of “Lilo & Stitch” still knows what Ohana means. “Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.” With its beautiful watercolor animation style inspired by the Spider-Verse movies, excellent voice acting, resonating themes of motherhood, identity, coming of age, and community, and earnest emotional depth, “The Wild Robot” is a homerun for Dreamworks. It´s a cozy and adorable comfort film somewhere between Studio Ghibli and “The Iron Giant”. Animation remains such a special medium for storytelling.
