val’s review published on Letterboxd:
i finally reached the conclusion that no matter how much i try to find the right words to express how i feel about this film, i will never be even half close to express what happens inside of my body whenever i watch this.
la la land is a film that it is so inevitably made for film and musical lovers that it feels like a love letter to everyone who has ever felt a deep connection to that type of media. because it was made by people that have felt for other films the same way that i feel about this one. you can see the love damien chazelle has for films and musicals in every single shot. not even one thing shown on screen is random. it feels like it was crafted with love and thought. from the insignificant to the important things. it is a tribute to all the films that made a musical fanatic love films in the first place.
to say that i feel grateful to be able to live in an era when i can just press play and relive this film whenever i want to is an understatement. my love for this movie is endless. happy 7th anniversary la la land <3
and happy 1 year anniversary to my first ever pinned review. eight watches later and i still feel every single word like i wrote it yesterday. forever thankful for this film.
