Summer Movie Watchlist #4/96
Just a few days ago I was watching The Last Crusade and when Indiana Jones got a collateral triple kill on those Nazis on top of the tank I thought “man, they just don’t make them like they used to.”
I’m happy to report that they definitely still do!

I wasn’t a massive fan of the original Mad Max trilogy but this movie takes every great element from all of them, kicks out the boring stuff, and makes a massive, mean, flaming, action-packed guzzoline machine.
I don’t know how to explain it, but this movie just felt so real. The fantastic use of practical effects makes what would normally be an wild post apocalyptic scenario feel incredible tactile. Of course just having practical effects isn’t the answer, it’s also the fact that the movie is shot, scored, colored, and sound effected (foleyed?) amazingly.
I’m very excited for Furiosa, and I’m especially happy that George Miller go to make it before 3000 Years of Longing bombed (great movie by the way, you should all watch it).
