So yesterday was a funny day. It all started when a mate of mine (fairly) chastised me for having never seen the original Mad Max trilogy. I figured I may as well watch the first one, the second if I get time. After watching those two back to back, I thought I couldn't watch them and not Beyond Thunderdome so I smashed that one out as well, and I was going to leave it there. Now, keep in mind, I'd seen Fury Road before so I thought "I don't need to rewatch that" but then I just kept getting the itch so for the first time ever, I smashed out four films in one day. And the funny thing is I'm not even quarantined, hell, I am at work right now (retail sucks).
Now, Fury Road is a fucking masterpiece. It really is. This has some of the best action sequences ever, and that isn't a hyperbolic statement. I love how George Miller took his third act trademark, the huge vehicle chase, and made the whole of this movie like that.
The acting is awesome, the cinematography is amazing,the story is...well, it's a Mad Max story. One thing that I really love in this moreso than the original trilogy is the score. I always felt the score in those previous films didn't fit the dark tone of them. In this one, we get a metal-like score which suits because this film is FUCKING METAL. I mean, show me another film with a blind dude strapped to the front of a giant vehicle playing an electric guitar that shoots fire...I'll wait.
So overall, this does have some fair criticisms but quite frankly, I don't give a fuck because this is a masterpiece and one of the best action films of the last 20 years, if not ever.
