I haven't talked about the humor in these films yet and I was pleasantly suprised to rediscover that this film is actually incredibly funny.

I suppose because of the nature of stop-motion animation, especially in the era so unrefined (because you’re defining it), having to work so strenuously (amplified under Park’s level of detail) forces you to deeply engage with how crucial everything must be in the film. That is a thought process exclusive to the material conditions of the medium.
This strenuousness is why stop-motion animation is a medium inherently against capitalism.
Taking incredible effort for such little labour produced is a rebellion…
