Powell & Pressburger's most bizarre moments
Part of the enduring majesty of Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger's cinema comes from their ability to undercut the prim and proper sensibility of war-time filmmaking with moments that are deeply strange, sometimes even disturbing.

Who stays? Who leaves? Who wants to stay but can’t? Who wants to leave but can’t? Through the noise of the city, how do we reach for tenderness?
[saoirse ronan voice] women!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
perfectly cast, impeccable costume and production design, visually striking that was almost powell & pressburger-esque, great writing and comedic timing — what more can you ask?
LFF 2024 Film #2:
Went into this completely blind last minute rush tickets, incredible stuff, sprawling and exciting. Funny as it is tragic, tense as it is romantic. Stacked with incredible performances , some really stunning imagery and just a whole film that feels so incredibly lived in. The green light monologue and the lunch rush hour sequence , amazing stuff, hell the one takes throughout , so good. For a film thats 150 minutes this flew by, very good editing and pacing .
A gorgeously poignant, quietly underplayed drama that centres the financial and administrative aspects of grief in a way I haven’t seen so effectively since the Redgrave segment of If These Walls Could Talk.
Patra Au Ga Man is completely wonderful.
With this and Robot Dreams, LFF always delivers the wholesome animated robot goods
I'm not crying, you're crying!!!
A Brilliant short.
LFF #6 - BFI Southbank NFT 2
