I rewatch more seriously this time and when the hype falls down, you're disappointed. In a frantic chase lasting 2 hours, it's a lot of fun and rhythm with its share of stunts, but the problem is it's like a remake of Mad Max 2, and this time the screenwriters' dog must have eaten the script during filming, because it literally goes round in circles. Too much aesthetics, not enough substance. So yeah, it's a cool moment, but I wasn't carried away by the universe, where this time the Apocalypse and survival, which are the main subjects of the Mad Max saga, become just anecdotal backdrops for a final impression of rewatching The Fate of the Furious , where instead of being in the ice, it's in the desert, with a cartoonish show that relies too much on its soundtrack and photography to compensate for the fact that it tells nothing.
I think they've forgot the basic principle of mechanics: spoiler alert when your truck's engine overheats, you can't spend your time doing wheelies while barely holding the exhaust pipe to dodge bullets. Less baroque, more creative script. One more overrated blockbuster on my list.
