More like Secondary Max: Fury Circle. TLDR: If you missed out on watching it on big screen, you have missed the bus because the movie is all about the theatrical experience. It's like watching Avatar 1 on mobile/laptop in 2023 for the very first time. Why would it impress you?
I think choosing not to watch it in theatres back in the day and watching it now, hasn't exactly worked out well.
Favourite moment: For all it's action scenes, the doof guitarist fighting to get his guitar back from Tom Hardy and resuming playing it was a great moment.
What didn't work for me: 1. As visually striking as it was, having not seen it in theatres, the barren landscape or jumbo trucks or the cool stuff did not particularly appeal to me. 2. This can hardly be called a Mad Max story, Charlize Theron owns the movie. She even manages to hold and save Tom Hardy from falling off the truck. So the title felt gimmicky at best. 3. The plotline, although not the focus or of primary concern, is plain boring. Apart from Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult's characters I found other characters either unappealing or irritating.
What worked: Having watched most of Mad Max 1 and skipping directly to Fury Road gave a good understanding of the depth of the world building and Fury Road develops this world further. This aspect is all very intriguing.
Overall a waste of time, all things considered. Only way to remedy the situation is, to watch it in theatres someday and see if the perception changes.
