the marketing for this came out of nowhere and took the internet by storm, i'm glad though, giving arthouse indie horrors a light that it deserves. expanding peoples horizons into a different experience away from the cliches--not that this film doesn't fall into it--and standard jump scares. opening scene itself is a banger, followed by its glowing red title screen, i knew we were in for a screamer.

just off the direction alone, this movie is a banger and we could call it a day. perkins flexes his superb talent behind the camera and engrosses the viewer into a tense, bone-chilling journey.. at least for the first two acts. certain imagery, camera work and shot choices paid off. i couldn't of been happier with the tech. enhanced by its sound, the movie does an impressive job at getting under your skin and delivering a distressing film. this is all further backed up by its zodiac-y murder mystery set in the 90s, with plenty of gore to eat up and performances to be taken aback by.

cage is astonishing, i mean laugh out loud disturbing, i loved any and every scene he was in, he did not let go of a mere second. with that being said, maika is the star of the show here and she couldn't of been better. tense, stressed, on the brink of life, and it all showed extremely well through her expressions, she killed it.

what just about drops this film lower than i wanted it to be, was the third act. although it delves into cliches and a surprising turn, the ending is still a little divisive to me, i think we could've gotten so much more with it, and this film would be going higher without a doubt.

all in all a one way ticket to hell, a devastating plunge into its pits & a psychological feast. slapped. i know perkins can top even this, he has a promising future! //•⊥\\—Ω!
