As I sat in the cinema watching Poltergeist, I felt very despairing, and not just about the current state of modern cinema. This occurred to me as the opening cutesy scenes establish the modern American family. In the original film there's a scene where the husband and wife, having put the children to bed, share a joint and have a laughing fit when they're interrupted by one of their children who's afraid of the storm. They quickly butt out the roach and dutifully allay the boy's fears before settling him back down. I tried to imagine such a scene today and couldn't. This does not need an outstanding original to be as awful as it is. It can do that all on its own.
There is simply nothing there. No suspense, no creativity, no connection to the characters, no frights, no acting (Rockwell isn't acting, he just being Rockwell having a laugh I'm sure), no momentum, no originality, no cleverness, no fun. Nothing.
Well that's not entirely true. There's the shit.
The shit that makes directors forget that they're making their own film instead of trying to copy/paste iconic moments, the shit that makes directors CGI horny, the shit that makes people think 'contemporize' equals generic mediocrity, the shit that makes shit stink.

Did people in the Amish community write the script?
There is no logical explanation as to why I decided to view this crummy remake when the average rating/general opinion of this picture was that of putrefaction. If there’s any solace in my lousy decision-making, the warning can be spread to avoid the film. BTW, it was decided to view this before revisiting the OG Poltergeist the previous night.

It's here... and it sucks
I still have no idea why they did a remake on Poltergeist and why Hollywood keeps making remakes in the first place. These just no point and it anyone's me that these people think they can top the original but always fail because you can't top the original unless your John Carpenter and you made The Thing then yeah good job you somehow top the original. But I also curious of how this was going to turn, I mean Hollywood must have learned from they mistakes by now by not adding any stupid CG monsters or loud jump scares. After seeing the movie I'm still not impressed.
