I won’t even try to hide it: I enjoy this “remake” of the 80’s classic with no shame. It’s a fun movie! I think it works especially well if you look at it as a standalone movie instead of comparing it to the original because the original definitely had a certain 80’s charm to it that can’t be replicated and I’m glad Anderson & Gierasch didn’t even try to. Speaking of, I should probably say that I dig Anderson/Gierasch shit more than most seem to.
There’s a few totally ridiculous and unbelievable moments, especially the finale, but there are also some great practical effects and you can just tell everyone had a good time making this. Total bonus points for not…
-
It’s ok... definitely a loud, enjoyable slice of trashy fastfood horror from 2009—it’s doofy fun, although not quite as enjoyable as I remembered but the demons look really good and I actually love the soundtrack.
-
The drug dealer in this film puts Edward Furlong in charge of selling crack and he wonders why he doesn't have any money...Dude is LIT through this entire film and it's freaking hilariously awkward to watch his co-stars interact with him. Ironically, he's the most watchable aspect of this bland remake.

demons. not so smart
that was sooo…the demon deigns were sickening though! shannon elizabeth the horror icon that you are

Eighty-five years after a strange series of events occurred at the Broussard Mansion, Angela throws a Halloween party on it's grounds. It doesn't take long for the police to break it up and kick out all of the party goers, leaving a core group of friends behind. When they finally decide to go home they realize that the gates are locked and they are trapped for the night on the cursed estate with seven demons who aim to possess seven people and usher in the end of the world as we know it.
Night of the Demons is a 2009 remake of the 1988 cult classic film of the same name. Oh boy.
I haven't seen any of the sequels…

As far as remakes go this matches the original I feel, with some modern touches and bigger budget. It was an interesting cast of performers from yesteryear too, Monica Keena hello!! Much better than the last 2 sequels of the original series of films.

I am not a very big fan of the Night of the Demons remake. It lacks the 80’s charm, the atmosphere and the fun of the original. I also think that the writing and acting is not very good. The movie looks cheap at times and feels a bit boring. But I do think that the filmmakers tried to give fans of the original what they want. Boobs, gore and (mostly) practical effects. I can appreciate that. In my opinion it is a far cry from the first two movies but I do prefer it to part three. So, not the worst in the series. Still, no real recommendation from me.

my favourite part was when the hot goth girl was dancing to type o negative. my least favourite part was when the demon put a lipstick inside her nipple and pulled it out of her coochie

Honestly, better than you'd expect it to be. It's got an early 2000's aesthetic which immediately brought back memories. There isn't a huge reliance on cgi gore due to the fact that it looks more lod buget than the others. Buts isn't still kinda fun. I know there's a Script for a sequel, I wish it had happened. As far as remakes go, it stands on it's own with a nice little cameo from Linnea.
-
I hadn't seen this remake since it first came out and was disappointed with it at the time. I enjoyed it more on rewatch. It suffers from a shitty Eddie Furlong performance and spastic 2000s editing. And, like most remakes, it's less interesting when trying to recreate memorable moments from the original like the lipstick and fares better when doing its own thing. But I definitely appreciated the practical effects this time around. Plus, Monica Keena is always a welcome presence and all the Halloween costumes are pretty great. I think I liked this better than Night of the Demons 3.
-
"Night of the Demons" has such a cheap look to it when you consider the location, but impresses with great demon designs and a badass finale.

"She stuck a lipstick into her boob and it fell out of her pussy ok?!"
This loose remake or reimagining isn't bad but its nothing noteworthy either. I enjoyed it more the first few times I watched it. Has been a few years though. Decent cast of Hollywood castoffs led by Shannon Elizabeth, Edward Furlong, and Monica Keena. Shannon Elizabeth is ok but she's nowhere near as good in the role of Angela as Amelia Kincade was. The dark humor and one liners are non existent here as well. Loved the callback to the OG NotDs with the Linnea Quigley cameo.
Its an ok watch for Halloween and an ok entry into the Night of the Demons series. Its nowhere near as good as the first 2 films but on pare with part 3.
