Every time I've rewatched this, I've bumped the rating slightly and I think it's time for the full 5 stars.
The Mutilator is a movie I liked a lot on VHS. When the DVD was impossible to find, I picked up a disc with a VHS rip at a convention. Then, when it came out in a cleaned up unrated version courtesy of Arrow Video, I fell even more in love with it.

The Monster Squad is the epitome of cinematic comfort food for me. The kind of movie that you never tire of watching. One you can throw on when you’re not feeling well or can’t decide on something else to watch or just need something familiar. Watching it feels like spending time with an old friend you haven’t seen in a while. I first saw Monster Squad in the late 80s when I was 6 or 7 and I would credit it with fueling my interest in horror and leading me to seek out scarier, bloodier movies as I got older.
Every time Bill Paxton does what Bridget Fonda tells him to, things go horribly wrong. Pretty sure the message of this movie is to never listen to your wife.
