Accused of smuggling cabbages into a nation where cabbages are banned, Declan and Delores must confront the fragility of their new marriage while on the run for their lives.
A bit of a disappointing watch from the festival. A Walmart-lite Wes Anderson film with a concept that falls flat. I got so tired of the cabbage gag when the film started. I do think the Russian wilderness looks very pretty. Dave Franco in a bear suit almost won me over. Matt Berry does a killer Werner Herzog impression, also not enough Steven Yeun. Sarah Goldberg innocent tho.
there is a child here named timotej who gives such an inspired performance that i think timothee chalamet has no choice but to legally change his name to timotej now. not joking. there’s not enough room in this town for more than one fancy spelling of Timothy and even though i am a big fan of timothee i don’t think he has the juice to compete with whatever that timotej child is bringing to the table. club chalamet has been real quiet since this dropped ill tell you that much. rest of the movie was okay
I don’t know what’s more insane, that this script got funded at all, or that numerous major stars read it and said you know what Hell yeah. What a waste.
This film has an appealing whimsy in its opening scenes, and Dave Franco has a glorious cameo, but Bubble & Squeak overall is a swing and a miss, with few laughs, lackluster pacing, and a second half that goes on forever. Not quite sure what the point of this movie was!
It is sweet initially, but then it just stops. I seem to like it more than most people have because I don’t hate it. I think its dialogue is neat, and the ideas are incredible. It just does not build to anything worthwhile from the first two acts. But at least Dave Franco is hot in this, though. That’s nice
I loathed this movie. I found its premise to be too silly, full of dumb characters making stupid decisions and I found the “humor” to be painfully unfunny. The movie’s quirkiness got in the way of its story, which made the movie go nowhere and became seemingly pointless. It has a good cast, but none of them were utilized to the best of their abilities. A major disappointment! And I wanted much more Steven Yeun than we were given.
one of my most anticipated of the fest and it didnt disappoint! sarah goldberg and himesh patel were super funny, but holy shit matt berry does a werner herzog voice in this movie and it's the funniest shit ever. was worried it was gonna be a little too "random=funny" but i had a nice time. wonderful to know that there's a whole country of people who hate cabbage as much as i do
