“Brewster’s Millions” is a comedy that lacks in punchlines, but makes a recurring joke out of the biggest gag of all: wealth management.
Based on an early 1900s novel that has seen about as many screen adaptions as “A Star is Born,” Walter Hill’s 1985 outing with Richard Pryor and John Candy is likely the tale’s best known incarnation.
Pryor plays a man who must spend 30 million dollars in 30 days without accumulating assets or giving the money away.

A decent background watch, but Brewster's Millions never fails to disappoint me with how bland and toothless it is considering the talent involved (mainly Walter Hill and his 48 Hrs. team). Bringing Eddie back for the lead would have done wonders; Richard Pryor's stand up is funny, but I've never dug any of his solo film work. Honestly, the only scene that makes me laugh is when Rick Moranis cameos as the King of Mimics, and it's a pretty stupid moment.
Slightly uneven and the wish fulfillment doesn't work as well as when I watched it as a kid. I spent most of the time doing maths instead of enjoying it. John Candy always great though.
