Lots of wacky characters (including Lee Marvin and Keenan Wynn) and moments populate this convoluted noir set in a luncheonette along the Pacific Coast Highway. Prepare for deep sea diner fishing, a weightlifting scene that rivals much of Pain & Gain, and the specialty of the house - Slob's wristwatchburgers. Easy to imagine young Thomas Pynchon and David Lynch eating this shit up at Saturday matinees.

The cinematic equivalent of that very specific childhood dread you'd get when your parents left you home to go out for dinner: that they might die in a car accident and leave you alone.
