A Wounded Fawn is a real feast for the eyes with its 16mm presentation of fun costumes, makeup, & really gnarly practical effects. Add the backdrop of art dealing & collecting, & well, I guess we have a super-fkn artsy production.
I won't / can't argue the aesthetic, but I found this to be a chichi chore of self-satisying schtick. I get the impression that Travis Stevens crafted this thinking it's, like, some kind of breakthrough in the horror genre...&, Like, feminist or something. It's neither.
It looks great, & the performances are good, but...
It just had really bad breath.
