Mysterious Skin did the "Silent Night needle drop in a movie about CSA" even better than Spotlight. Fuck.
Araki is absolutely unflinching here. Nothing held back. All of the pain. Do not look away. They couldn't.
Why do I keep watching movies about or adjacent to my own trauma that break my heart and fuck me up for days but ultimately heal me just a little bit? That's art.
